New TV Show: Jack & Bobby
I got a DVD with the first episode in my latest copy of Entertainment Weekly. I had read some good stuff about the show so I popped it in and was treated to really solid pilot. The basic premise is that it is a show about two kids in High School, which evidently includes 8th Grade in this College Town. One of the two grows up to become President. The show mainly focuses on the two boys, and their single mother played by Christine Latti, but also includes documentry style clips about the boys from 2048. As I said I thought the show was quite good. The characters introduced were all interesting. The main three were all well acted. There were several potentially interesting side characters introduced as well. Several potentially interesting backstories were hinted at, but not revealed. The only disappointment was that they revealed which of the two kids became President at the end. It seemed like they could have played that out a little longer as one of the most interesting things for me was seeing how each of the two brothers, though having very different personalities, could have the potential to grow up to greatness.

Do they portray the father as a bootlegger millionaire who also happens to be a Nazi sympathizer?

I wonder if there will be a character named "nephew Will" who likes to take the girls into the woodshed and play doctor.

Yeah, I didn't know that it was supposed to be in 2048... it almost seemed like it was a Kennedy show.. though with that name of the show, it easy to make that mistake.

If that's the pilot, I wonder if it's the same as the first broadcast episode - and if it's different, if they changed who the president would be in the pilot. Seems that if it was a true pilot - i.e. to sell it to the networks - if they felt they had to give it away there, while it could wait for the end of a season episode in prime time.

The DVD indicated that it was the episode which would air on whatever the first date of the show is and so my use of pilot might be technically incorrect as it might not be the actual pilot.
