Have some $$$ now, what should I do with it?

Ok I was in the hole about 300k and then I trained a formidable GKer and sold him for big bucks.

Now I have 800k and I was wondering what I should do with it?
I figured I should buy some new players (since most of my team sucks and is old). But I was wondering if I should go after more GKers to train or start a youth squad or hire more coaches...?

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Well, presumably you need to replace your GK trainee that you sold, unless you got a really nice youth pull. I'd recommend a solid 17 or 18, which would cost you somewhere in the ballpark of $150k to $250k, if you don't have the player already.

Youth squad and assistant coach spending is good but really should be funded from operating revenue rather than trainee sales.

If you don't have one already, think about getting a solid/poor coach for ~$270k.

Then look at upgrading. Most likely, if you will continue training keepers, you should spend your money in midfield or at forward. Look to make at least a two-level upgrade on one of your weakest starters at one of those positions. Without doing some research on your team and some knowledge about the skills of the existing players, I can only make a general recommendation on this point.

Thanks guys. Yeah Ardent, its been an uphill battle the whole way for me. But I got fortunate that I stuck with GK training, then out of no where, on of my trainees turned formidable (which is big money for any n00bs out there, especially when they are 17 or 18). Now I have some breathing room.

My plan now is to get another GKer trainee like Wednesday said. I also am going to buy a few 18 year mids because I am very weak in that position. I already have a 250k coach (for GK), he is mostly why I was in the hole to begin with, but its worked out now. Just got to be patient, thats really the key.
Still not going with a youth squad. I am going to wait til I have a good positive cash flow.

Thanks guys, any other advice is appreciated.

If your weak in midfield, don't bother buying 18 yo PM'ers. Buy players with experience of at least poor, they will play a lot better than the 18 yo's will at the same skill level. Just my .02.

when i first started out, i made a complete line up with 28+ year old guys with solid skills. its relatively cheap to do. then replaced them with younger guys as i made more money over the next few seasons. it was easy to do as a defender trainer since i had a descent stream of money constantanly coming in. im not sure how good it would be for a gk trainer since you guys seem to get all your money in 1 big batch.

I believe I currently have 6 keeper coaches and 4 assistants. It's been suggested in conferences that it's better to weight a little more heavily to assistants to keep the outfield form up, I'm not sure if there's a trade-off in training speed for the keepers.

6/4 is pretty heavy on the assistants I think. When I was training I usually went 8/2, occasionally dipping to 7/3 when the form got to the "I can't take this any more" stage. Most keeper trainers go 8/2 or 9/1 I believe.

That said, those last couple of coaches don't make a whole lot of difference, especially with something as fast as keeper training. So unless you're planning on trying to train a U-20 keeper, no need to go to extremes.

I think I'll by some 17-18 GK trainees and maybe buy a few cheap better, younger mids. But this time I will be frugal. Thanks for the advice.
