Wireless Networking Gear: This is the Time to Buy
I know (if for no other reason than because I was looking for info when I was setting up mine) there have been a lot of wireless home networking threads here in the past few months. It seems that there has been a lot of sales this past week or two and still going so if you want to take the plunge and you don't mind rebates, the time is now. When I bought, the best thing I could get were a couple of $10 rebates but now there are multiple $20s and $30s on some of the routers and wireless cards. So I figured that I'd pass along what I've seen the past couple of weeks (and are still going, according to fatwallet)
These have all been taken from the thread (MIR = Mail In Rebate): hxxp://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=18&threadid=235642&highlight_key=y&keyword1=802%2E11g 802.11b Router $9.99 ($30 MIR) - Belkin F5D6231-4 - COMPUSA SKU:301825 [08/29-09/04] $12.99 ($20 MIR) - Netgear MR814 - buy.com SKU:10328497 [09/01-09/01] $19.98 ($30+$10 MIR) - D-Link DI-514 - OfficeDepot SKU:909190 [08/29-09/04] FREE 50X CD-R $19.99 ($30 MIR) - Belkin F5D6231-4 - Staples SKU:482096 [07/25-09/18] $19.99 ($20+$20 MIR) - Netgear MR814 - BestBuy SKU:4790676 [08/29-09/04] PCI $9.99 ($30 MIR) - Belkin F5D6001 - Staples SKU:497237 [07/25-09/18] USB 1.1 $9.99 ($30 MIR) - Belkin F5D6050 - Staples SKU:482092 [07/25-09/18] $9.99 ($20 MIR) - Belkin F5D6050 - COMPUSA SKU:287283 [08/29-09/04] USB 2.0 $9.99 ($20 MIR) - Belkin F5D6051 - COMPUSA SKU:314122 [08/29-09/04] PCCard $9.99 ($20 MIR) - Belkin F5D6020 - COMPUSA SKU:287284 [08/29-09/04] $9.99 ($20+$10 MIR) - D-Link DWL-650 - OfficeDepot SKU:909406 [08/29-09/04] FREE 50X CD-R 802.11g Router $29.94 ($30 MIR) - Netgear WGR614 - Staples SKU:511397 [08/29-09/04] $29.99 ($20+$30 MIR) - Netgear WGR614 - BestBuy SKU:5507043 [08/29-09/04] USB 2.0 $29.94 ($25 MIR) - Netgear WG121 - Staples SKU:560752 [08/29-09/04] But, anyways, the whole point is: If you've been thinking about making a wireless network in your home, the time is now as you can set up an 802.11b for quite cheaply. Or, if you want to have room to grow, grab that Netgear 802.11g router (which is a great price and BB has as rock solid of rebates as anyone since they have an entire center devoted to their many rebates) and then grab a couple of those Belkin USB 802.11b cards because they're reverse compatible and you're only throwing down $10 each (provided you can get more than 1 per household- might want to check that out) until 802.11g cards come down in price. SI
