Enigma Puzzle #13

A career I've made
entertaining you
Who am I?
Here are some clues.

I traveled south
to delight of some.
Taking a chance,
it was a bomb.

Roll the dice
to make a sum.
Insurance is
at premium.

A simple clue
may spoil your quest.
Make a challenge
or make a guess.

A famous game
from days of yore.
But my number was
twice as more.

Flashing lights
would be your guide.
No moving till
the lifts subside.

A triangle game,
not with squares!
Choices given,
but nobody cares.

A classic game
with ups and downs.
Matches made
for puzzled frowns.

Deceit and guile
did rule the land.
Three would sit
but one would stand.

I've failed to note
what I'm known for best.
Name that game
and pass my test.

I was thinking about board games, games you play in vegas or games you play during recess.

I tried a few video games, thinking it may be Nintendo. But no dice.

My first thought was a game show host, with the clues describing some of the games they've hosted and the answer being the show they're best known for.

I've stumped you all,
I do believe.
So here's a clue:
Think Maple Leaf.

The puzzle has been solved.

I'll try to have something new up in a bit.

I don't know how the other clues fit in, and I'd love an explanation, but of course as per tradition the new enigma will just blast off to a new puzzle.

The problem is, a lot of these enigma's are probably throwing out ton's of guesses based on leads other people have posted and probably don't explain the answer because they can't.

Yes, I see that much - and Jeopardy! is a renewal of an old game show... but nearly everything else leaves me empty. Oh, well. In true eniogma tradition, do't try to solve the whole puzzle - just come up with a general idea, and hammer it until you stumble on the right thing.

Just a thought: would it be worth it to sacrifice the anonymity of the Enigma by allowing the creator of a solved puzzle to reveal himself and explain it?

I mean, since the winner's obviously have no intention of doing so... I feel like I'm missing out on some good puzzles here.

I agree, if there is some distance removed from the current puzzle(r) - perhaps three enigmas? - let's have the keys to the puzzle.

Trebek was born in Canada, but i'm not sure what the Bomb reference refers to.

This refers to the game show High Rollers, i think.

Are these all Trebek game shows? I guess he must have hosted "To Tell the Truth" for the last quatrain, then.

I stand corrected. Didn't know that show was on in the 70's.

The 2nd to last clue must be to tell the truth. The one about triangles is battlestars, some show he hosted for one episode.
