CSV Draft File Generator

Ok, here it is. It's by no means perfect. There are a lot of issues with Solecismic's Draft File Generator. It can't read the last column of collegiate stats which is really frustrating. It has no problem doing this for files generated by TCY. Also, it will randomly add quotation marks around player names in the draft file conversion process. This has driven me crazy. If you'll look at your CSV file, you won't see the quotation marks, but if you look at the faf file with 3ric's utility, you'll see they magically appear.

I'm hoping for some feedback about the quality of draft files produced. I haven't had time to do a lot of testing in this area. My experience has been that there are lots of players with high future and low current. I'm not sure how to adjust this since you are only asked for one rating.

Please post feedback/bugs/suggestions here.

You can download the generator here.

Dola,

You can use 3ric's draft editor to fix the problems I mentioned earlier. Use your csv file to copy and paste the names again and the last column of collegiate stats(the very last column in the file). This is kind of tedious I know, but there's really no other way around the issues with Solecismic's program.

Where do you have FOF2k4 installed? I set the default path to be c:/program files/solecismic software/front office football 2004/universe just to save time. i guess i need to fix it and give people the option or something where they want the file to go.

ah yea, that would be the problem. FOF is over on my 'sim games' hard drive, d:/solecismic software/front office football 2004/single play/universe

Thanks Cap!

It's my fault, I was just trying to streamline the programming process by setting it like that. I was encountering other issues with it that took so much longer than I anticipated that I tried to save some time by doing it like that. I'll try to update it and give people the option of where they want the file to go soon. I'm going out of town this weekend, so it'll probably be at least a week away or so.

Also, please let me know what kind of talent is showing up in the drafts. I want it to make draft files that are pretty comparable to the ones that the game produces.

note to those who want to use this, but have the game installed somewhere other than the default dir... just create the C:\Program Files\solecismic software\front office football 2004\universe directories and it will work ok.

I've updated the draft generator. I figured out how to eliminate the names appearing in quotes. I also changed the distribution to make drafts be a little deeper, but I'm still not happy with it. Players seem to be very low on current ability. You can download the new version here.
