Game Over, Do not Insert Credit To Continue (Acclaim go Bye Bye!)

Acclaim Entertainment has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the Eastern District of New York bankruptcy court, meaning it will liquidate its assets and shut down. The story states in part, 'Computer game maker Acclaim Entertainment (Nasdaq: AKLM) has filed for voluntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which would result in the liquidation of the company's assets. The company filed papers in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Central Islip that estimated its debts at more than $100 million and its assets at $10 million to $50 million. The filing said it had more than 200 creditors.'

Wow. There's some folks who are going to lose.. well.. just about everything.

After looking at a recent financial statement, and then looking at the next year's worth of expected releases ... I can't really say I blame them much for filing.

The new Legends of Wrestling game, was the worst wrestling game I have ever played. You'd think after so many tries in that genre, they'd eventually hit on one. Guess not....

These were the same guys that tried to make all those wrestling games that just blew? Warzone, Attitude, All the ECW ones, etc. Man, those games all sucked.

The Bard's Tale was an much anticipated remake of the old classic and had garnered some interest, from longtime fans of the original series. Shame that will get brokered off and languish. I looked forward to a new Bard's Tale.

indeed, The Bard's Tale was on my shortlist of upcoming games , however seeing how bad the butchered this years Legends of Wrestling I can't say I didn't see this coming. Its almost like they didn't even test it.

In one of the scenero's it puts Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage. You take over as Savage with Hogan in control. My 1st time playing Hogan got me down and was ready to drop the leg drop however he would bounce off the ropes and just stop when he got to me instead of dropping the leg drop. He did this about 5 or 6 times. I've seen other people on that game not able to use their special too, and moves like getting vertical suplexed while you are standing out side the ring by a guy standing in the middle of the ring. With mistakes that big getting past their "beta testers" its no suprise they have gone bankrupt.

The thing that sucked the fun out of LOW would be when someone like The Dynamite Kid would use the RKO (or whatever it's called) on Abduallah The Butcher.... it's wrong in so many ways.....

Here's a quote from the list of features of the Mary-Kate and Ashley game...

"With 4 friends, 2 game boards and a slew of vehicles to race, it's the sweet 16 extravaganza of the century!"

For some reason when I was 16, I was gawky, awkward and generally embarassed. Little did I know I was only 4 friends, 2 game boards and a slew of vehicles away from the extravanganza of the century.

this part sounds intriguing if it includes them and a me sandwich.

I keep on wavering whether or not to offer that there's a lot more throwing up involved in real life than in the game. After much contemplation, I've decided not to make that statement.
