Michigan overrated and overranked, AGAIN!

At what point does the annual high (top ten) preseason ranking stop?

Well, it was 10-3, but who is counting? Look, how can you not go 10-3 when you play 8 games against crappy (and similaly overrated) teams in the Big 10? In non-conference, they went 3-2, with the 3 wins against Central Michigan, Houston, and Notre Dame. A freshman QB this year too, right?

The last loss was in the Bowl Game. I usually don't count that myself, but I guess I should start doing it if stats in Bowl games count in season records now.

Anyway, they ended up losing to Oregon in a very close game and Iowa, which was also a highly ranked team. And they played a decent game against a USC team which was utterly amazing.

And IIRC, the Big 10 didn't do badly in the bowls at all, especially those who you have considered 'overrated'.

Also, FYI, the freshman is only starting due to injury. Gutierrez is a junior.

Some good points, but it seems like every year they get ranked high and then (except 1997) lose early. I would just like to see some realistic rankings before they play. They are not the only overrated teams, though. FSU is in there along with Texas, usually.

Come to think of it, I would like to see them ditch preseason rankings and wait until week 4-5 before they even start. That makes the most sense to me.

Yeah, I'd like to see the polls wait as well, but the preseason rankings allow some extra hype for games.

Didn't like 8 teams fall in the top 25? Kansas State, Missouri, ect. Ohio State, Georgia and Texas all got alittle luck on their side. To jump on Michigan for losing to Notre Dame and calling them overrated based on last weekend's game against ND (which they only lost by 8 points-and I am not sure what talent Notre Dame will really show) is an unfair judgement in my eye. Oklahoma had a battle with Bowling Green on their hands. As for the Big Ten, they look pretty deep this year. It seems that each conference goes up for a few years, then goes down for a few years. Every team has a tough game. To call Michigan overrated in two games is kinda a stretch, they were ranked based on last year and they will fall in regards to the lost at ND.

Funny, at my last check, every team that was ranked high as the season started was undefeated. Last year too. And the year before that. And so on. Then the most amazing thing happens year after year. Teams play. Games are won. Games are lost. Then, miraculously, the rankings are adjusted accordingly! Wow! I guess this is why they actually play the games!

BTW... I was just happy that Michigan didn't get the chance to go to overtime. I hate overtime.
