Okay, a happy ending. But I'm a little worried about my play.

On the flop -- my thinking was that after he three-bet the flop, he had to have two pair, probably KT. I put the other player on a draw, either QJ or a big heart draw. My capping it was intended to buy me a free card... hoping to get the two-pair guy to cool off, and give me a chance to outdraw him.

...but I bet the turn after missing, and decided that I'd keep up the effort. I didn't have a major read on the player I put on two pair, but I thought I might get the draw hand to let it go.

When the river was another blank, I thought I was fairly likely to be still behind the middle position player (narmoj), but contemplated a bet -- but then decided that my hand was pretty near that break point where I'll only get called/raised by a better hand.

In retrospect, I was almost certainly wrong there -- if these guys were calling (and raising, at least on the flop) the whole way with outkicked top pair, they certainly would have tossed twenty more into the pot getting better than 10-1 odds.

Comments? Critique?

I think you could eliminate a pocket pair of kings because you were holding one and there was one on the flop. narmoj and wakeus made a bet-raise but then checked twice in a row, which I would think indicated a weak hand. When I have two pair I am going to raise the pot after the flop to try to take out potential players who can get good cards on the turn and river. I do not think I would check with two pair after the flop. I think the flush draw worried some players. I do not know the level of players you were playing against, but I would think with $10/$20 stakes they would be pretty good.

Just my rambles...

Silly rabbit, don't you know that a card deck can't have 3 pairs of Kings?

If you're beat, what are your chances of winning the hand if you check? You have to bet here.

If you bet and everyone folds, you win the same amount of money that you would have if you checked and won. In the process, you may make someone with a better hand fold. If you check and someone has a better hand, you lose 100% of the time. If you bet, you may make him fold. If he folds just 1 out of 12 times, you still end up in the positive overall with what the bet was and how much was in the pot.

And if you bet and they call, and you have the best hand, you win $20 or $40 more (depending if one folded or not).

Party is filled with hyperaggressive players who will gladly cap with top pair/no kicker. On the turn, you would have been raised if someone had two pair or a set. The blank on the river is highly unlikely to help anyone. Easy value bet. You will be called with losing hands far more often than with superior hands.
