I'm sick of the fake stuff making fun of Bush.

Grrrrrrr.... I'm really tired of seeing fake pictures. Reading fake quotes. Seeing fake stuff all over the place making fun of George Walker Bush. I saw the pic here: http://www.pandagon.net/mtarchives/cat_republicans.html and it reminds me of the one where someone photoshop'ed a pic and flipped it to make it look like that one guy (I can't think of his name) who said that Strom shoulda been prez and all our troubles woula been over.

I'm no Bush supporter, but I'm just sick of seeing all this crap out there. There is plenty of real material out there to make Bush look bad. He doesn't need the help. In fact, the fake stuff just goes to obscure the real stuff! And the fact that he makes a mistake now and then should not be the reason to keep him from holding office. Bush's policies should be the focus, not whether or not he can pronounce "nuclear." In fact, the mistakes he makes draw attention away from what he actually is saying. That shows how stupid the American public is. Bush could announce a "New-cue-lar" strike against Boston, and 80% of his detractors would be laughing about his mispronounciation. (His supporters would just hope that John Kerry was home at the time and figure that a million less liberals would be a good thing.) That's a gross exageration, but it does seem that his screw-ups get more attention than anything else.

I would give anything to see a clean campaign, based on the issues. Instead we get "He was smoking crack instead of flying planes in the national guard." "Yeah, well he got three purple hearts for two mosquito bites and the clap." This election is like choosing between Busch and Pabst. Both leave a bad taste in your mouth and you wanting a real beer.

But these idiots should stop adding fake shit on top of the pile of "Bushisms." All it does is cover all the real shit he does and give ammo to his supporters who are then able to say "Well, all that stuff was fake, this must be too." Unless that is the plan...

OK, I'm done with this quick rant off the top of my head. I could spend more than 5 minutes on it, but it's not really worth the time.

Perhaps if bush weren't such a complete moron there wouldn't be any fuel for people to make such things with?

I agree with Noop. The tabloidy stuff sells, and the media is run by huge corporations that exist to make money. That stuff trickles down to the public and everyone is playing the gotcha game. The issues become secondary to how events are spun to the public. The ignorant people are just making stuff up that fits in with the "gotcha" style.
The truth is that not that many people actually care about politics. I read somewhere, maybe Chomsky, said that about 20% of the population are actually politically aware and care about politics and issues. The rest are just there to be suckered in by marketting schemes or not vote at all, I guess.
Seriously, spend any time in a public, unmoderated chat room when anything political comes up and you'll be amazed by the level of stupidity that ensues on both sides. I was waiting to play a hold 'em freeroll yesterday and I was bombarded with horrible nonsense.

Ain't that the truth. The public would rather watch cheesy reality tv shows than Newshour, and the campaigns and media are giving them exactly what they want: cheap, sleazy melodrama.

As the person who posted it, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't falsely accuse me of posting photoshopped pictures. It's an AP picture, perfectly valid, in no way edited except for cropping.

Besides the false insinuation, the purpose of posting it wasn't a "ha-ha, look at him mess up" idea. The purpose of it was pointing towards the continual Republican obsession with proper displays of patriotism by Democrats to prove that they actually do love and care about their country, made all the harder by the grave specter of disagreement, while simultaneously screwing up the things they'd crucify Democrats for.

Apparently, you missed everything else on the page which does talk about the issues, and you lied about the veracity of the picture. Righteous outrage while being wrong isn't really righetous any more.

Well, sorry I offended you. I wasn't accusing you of photoshoping the pic yourself. I saw the pic somewhere else where it had your tag on it and just followed the link using google. I searched for another copy of the photo somewhere else to verify that it was real, but could not find any proof. Maybe if there wasn't such a glut of touched up photos out there there would have been no confusion. The photo does look like it could have easily been faked. As for the content of the rest of your page, I didn't bother... the content of most political pages (right or left) is so biased as it makes me want to vomit.

Why do I feel like the guy who knows his girlfriend has been cheating with every guy in town and the one time he chooses to confront the situation, the guy she is with really is her cousin?

Thanks for searching us out here and making your first post here. I hope you feel welcome!

Of course, democrats never screw something up and accuse Republicans, do they?

Vegas,

What happened to your poll numbers? FWIW, I don't trust any of them, anytime. I still think Kerry is running one of the worst campaigns in history and that he'll get thumped by 6-8 points because of it.

More interesting (to me, anyway) is that you even knew about this post and registered on the forum to respond. Do you have a mole inside FOFC?!?!?! DO YOU!!!!????

I think we have been infiltrated.

Yeah, at least do yourself a favor for the time you spent to find this place and buy a copy of FOF 2004.

I guess I'm so out of touch, I had no clue Rush Limbaugh wasn't married any more. Or maybe he's never been married? I thought he was, and is. Now I read he's dating a CNN anchor. Psst....the Carville/Matlin thing's been done already, you guys.

He's no James Carville, though.

I think Oprah should get Rush and Dr. Phil to do a co-hosting show.

Maybe the whole world explodes into a light-hearted chuckle at one of Phil McGraw's effortless rib-ticklers. It's funny because it's true!
