APBA Baseball for Windows

I know this isn't the best place to be soliciting my league - b/c of the love of football in here.

But I thought I'd give it a whirl.

IF anybody is still into this game and want to join a league that plays the games via the internet (head to head). PM me, I will give you more information.

OMG!! I remember being OBSESSED with ABPA to the point where I'd draft myself 18,000 different teams and spend HOURS playing with them. Aaaah, childhood.

Well...are you talking about the board game or the Windows game?

The Windows game is great....and really it was the first game on Windows (at least that I know of) that allowed you to simulate the game in front of you (ex. OOTP, I think they took that idea.) with a picture of the stadium, players on the field, hitting pitch/hit/steal/make changes etc.

And the stat compiler is amazing.

the windows game of course. Awww geez, I can still remember the drafting-interface, and the killer teams I'd draft. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS with Wade Boggs (hey, it was the mid-80's in Boston, who else!). Talk to me Ram...what's the deal with this league?? Are you talking about the board game? I've never actually...played that.

I am talking about the Windows game.

We have a league (it is suspended right now, due to lack of consistent participation and we are looking for some new active blood) that we play online via Netmeeting or MSN Messanger.

The teams are controlled by each GM, you make the moves etc. So essentially it is my team (my team name is the Flushing Toilets ) vs. yours online.

The teams are compiled via draft, (we have keepers and a restocking draft) and obviously they are all jumbled up and we use last years stats as a base for this years game.

For instance, I have Jason Phillips - he hit .298 last year, so I have that year to use for this year...and next year, I will have the (back to earth) .210 Jason Phillips because that is what he is hitting now.

At the same time, you can always look into the future as to how your team will be next year. For instance, Aaron Rowand is barely useable for me this year but next year he will be helpful since he is hitting .314 with 20+ this year.

That is a good basis, we have specific rules about AIM and stolen bases and batters faced etc.
