Quentin Griffin apparently reminds ESPN of Barry Sanders

They previewed a segment about him with a bunch of Barry clips.

"I think Brian Westbrook reminds me of a young Marshall Faulk," said FOX Sports and HBO Sports Cris Collinsworth. "I know that is a major statement, but this kid can play. He makes great catches coming out of the backfield and gives them speed around the corner.

I think many people here on FOFC could get 1,000 yards playing tailback for the Broncos.

I agree with the comparison of styles, but I don't think it's really the kind of thing that deserves that kind of a segment.

He won't be reminding them of that for long. As soon as Jacksonville figures out that he only puts his mouthguard in when he's going to get the ball, he'll be stuffed like a Thanksgiving Turkey. Hopefully Mr. Shanahan also noticed this going over the tapes and will correct it for the next game.

Something tells me kcchief19 would run the wrong way or fumble it to a Chef. I don't know what it is, I just have a feeling...

And he does remind me a bit of Barry. Just a bit. Not many backs can even attempt to juke someone like Griffin did for that TD. Leshon Johnson blew an ACL in practice for the Packers when they told him to imitate Barry...

Slightly off topic, I am in the process of trading away Griffin for Jamal Lewis(straight up) in my fantasy league. Anyone think I am a genius/idiot?

Not a genius or an idiot. I think Jamal has the better year, but I don't think it's a slam dunk. Q has a ton of questions about his ability to hold up over 16 games. Jamal has one of the worst QB's in the league, a poor receiving core, a banged up O-Line and the prospect of a decade+ in prison hanging over his head.

I thought before the year he dissapoint. . . but for him dissapoint is still going to be 1200 yards and 10 TD's. Q, provided he stays healthy will have more, but that health thing is going to be a big issue.

Personally, I would not deal Griffin for Lewis. Jamal was on my bust list and Q looks primed for a huge season.

I'm not saying the guy's Sanders by any means, but I saw Griffin take a LOT of hits at OU over the years. The boy's tough, trust me.

No, I guess I mean people trotting out the barry clips and the gushing that's going on. KC couldn't tackle a one legged John Stephens turning the corner.

I agree with you completely. I can see the comparisons in style to Sanders; I've seen that since his first start at OU, and I honestly thought he'd be a good back in the NFL, a gem for whoever drafted him. And I still think he'll be that, but I'm definitely not predicting superstardom quite yet.

Also, and I wonder if some others who followed OU on a regular basis feel the same way, he seems faster to me in the NFL. He's always been quick, but he seems to have a little more speed to the outside and breakaway speed than he had in college. But that could just be my perception based on the differences in offensive style.
