Whatever happened to Justin Strzelczyk?
I always liked this Pittsburgh Steeler. He looked, and played like an old 70's player...

A trucker saw the chase and pulled his rig across the road. Instead of stopping, the pickup drove across the grass median into the westbound lanes and traveled about three miles in the wrong direction before the deadly crash.
Rock on trucker guy. I can just see Cringer running him into a ditch and then flipping him off. |

There is something to be said for a man who decides that he's not going to let society determine how he lives the rest of his life. On the other hand, the lifespan of such individuals is usually a great deal shorter than average...
What do you think he was listening to during this chase? I think a good "You'll never take me alive, coppers!" song would be "Eastbound and Down." Too bad this wasn't California. Then it would have been all over the news. I'm sick of seeing the California Highway Patrol chasing a guy in a Toyota who didn't pay his child support...

This is getting to be a hot issue in some places. These police chases that is. When I lived in GA, there was alot of hubub about the fact that cops pursue these "minimal" offenders to visciously, often leading to the death of the fugitive and other innocent bystanders. I think there was a rash of them in GA where the driver running from the cops hit lots of people, or created big accidents where there were multiple deaths and the cops took a lot of heat.
That being said, I don't condone anyone running from the law, but...you got his license, you got his info, why turn something semi-minor into a huge death count every time? Any cops on this board want to discuss the mentality of "get the bad guy at all costs"? Many times these guys are people with warrants out that don't want to pull over for running the stop sign because they'll go to jail. What's the harm in tracking them down later? |

You just can't have a policy that says all that a criminal has to do to avoid going to jail is to drive faster and the cops will give in and hit the Krispy Kreme.

Not avoid jail. You get him later. Put out a warrant. You've got his license, his info. If he's going 100 MPH through crowded areas...maybe back off and let him go, follow him by chopper or something...

I agree somewhat, but what about the time you let a guy go to get him later and it turns out that he had his ex wife locked in the trunk and ends up killing her before you can get him later? You would only need one of those to give a lot of bad press to the police, rightly or wrongly. |

He's got warrants out on him for speeding & murder, but he's doing 35 in a 25... Better let him go boys. We'll get him when he obeys traffic laws. OH MY GOD!!! IS HE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ON A RED LIGHT! IS HE CRAZY???
