HERE IT IS: 2004-05 NBA SEASON THREAD

Seasons starts tonight... Thought I'd do some predictions, not that anyone cares but it's fun none the less.

1. Pistons (Central)
2. Heat (Southeast)
3. 76'ers (Atlantic)
4. Pacers
5. Nicks

3. Kings (Pacific)
4. Nuggets
5. Suns

Bug - the one team that I can root with you for.

I'm gonna say Odom and Butler make a very positive impact and the Lakers win 52 games.

I do feel for Raptors fans, though Chris Bosh I think is the real deal. Slowly, they're starting over. Just get rid of Vince and they're back on track.

Taking big men should be outlawed in the NBA Lottery. It's a dagger to the heart of every team who gambles with a few exceptions. Just say no.

That Yao Ming fella worked out pretty well for us in Houston.

Jeebs- he's so fluid near the hoop sometimes. I swear I was watching the second coming of Hakeem at times tonight. He's not always there and seems awkward at times, but man, sometimes, he's just so fun to watch.

Yeah, but then you have names like Olowkandi, Curry, Brown, Chandler, etc, etc.

Those are just some of the recent. The busts far exceed the booms.

You never pass up cant miss guys like Shaq and Yao, but all too often teams reach for big men early in the draft.

To be fair, Yao wasn't a "can't miss". I remember a lot of speculation that other guys would go #1 because people didn't want to take a chance on him. Fortunately, Houston won the lotto and center was their biggest need so it was worth the gamble.

Great to hear, SI. I didn't get to watch the game tonight, so it's nice to know that he's playing well. Were he and T-Mac (speaking of former Raptors... ) meshing well?

I only watched the game in 2-3 minute chunks between election stuff, but the whole offense looked kindof clunky tonight. It's still early in the season and Detroit's a good defensive team so I'm not too concerned. But the fact remains, the whole team wasn't all that thrilling on offense.

I hope the Raps are actually good, cause if the Rockets lost to the usual suspect Raps, it's gonna be a long season in Houston...

Uh oh, has the New England area used up their magic with the Red Sox victory? First the Patriots lose, now the Celtics blow a second half 16 point lead at home to the Sixers.

Oh yeah, go Sixers!

I'm so sick of hearing how coaches are proud of his guys competing or we really played hard. Doc Rivers had all that rhetoric out. Something like "One thing the fans can count on is our guys competing every night. They played hard tonite."

Ah, great. I'm happy the multi millionaires deem it necessary to try. Good job.

good game by toronto. toronto hit shots, and did everything else right to win. now i don't want to sound like a cocky elitist but come next time, i am fairly sure the score will be quite different.

... i mean, you guys did get the holiest of grails last night.. vince carter ran down the floor like 8 times. that's huge production.

Thats what i mean about people taking the raps lightly this year.....Sam Mitchell wants the team to score, unlike Kevin O'neal last year.....Vince is playing a team game, and looks great out there....Bosh adjusted very well yesterday, and can play inside, outside, put the ball on the floor......And Rafer has been much better then i thought......Raps will suprise this year, but it wont be a surprise for me....

I think they'll be decent. I don't think they'll be really good until next year, but squeaking into the playoffs I can see. Just wait though, unless Delfino and McDyess get accustomed to Detroit and coming off of the bench. We'll be quite alright.

35 to 38 wins will be the max for the Raps this season...even with their great start.

And subsequently, that should get them in the playoffs. The East still holds the two top teams in my opinion, though I realize it's open to debate.

I predict 45-52 wins, depending on obviously injuries, trades, all that stuff.....If Alvin comes back this season, the depth improves, but I think the team is pretty deep right now.....do I think they can beat Detroit in a playoff series, probably not, but weirder things have happend......

I am loving the Jazz and the Raptors right now.

The Raps are currently SO SO SO FUN to watch. SkipToMyLue is INSANE.

Who else thinks Kirilenko's going to maintain that 7.0 bpg avergage of his for the rest of the season?
