It was a solid win, but I wouldn't call it "huge."

Don't get me wrong... I'm a solid Bush supporter, and I'm very glad he won... but you don't need to gloat.

Huge for the country
(at least that's how I took it, not huge in terms of margin)

I just heard on NPR that with absentees and provisionals and such being added in, and Iowa/New Mexico finally tallied, that the margin of victory has been raised from 51%/48% to 52%/47%. I don't see that reflected anywhere, but it's kinda interesting if true.

Well, one would expect the overseas military absentee ballots to be strongly in favor of Bush... I'm not sure what else to make of that.

Hey if he wants to spend his political capital posting on FOFC, who are we to judge? Maybe we can get some kind of federal grant.

You're not the only one!

I think it's time to start looking at repealing the 22nd Amendment. It was put into place to keep the liberals from taking over our great nation. We have now gotten beyond the point where a sexual deviant like Bill Clinton can be elected to the highest office in the land. God himself placed George Walker Bush into office in 2000 to deliver us to the promise land, much like Moses brought his people from bondage. (Moses also had a speach impediment!)

Why should an amendment implemented to avoid the possibility of liberal scum like Clinton, Roosevelt, or Kennedy from maintaining a position of power limit the second greatest leader that this nation has ever seen? If it was not in place in '88 we could have had four more years of Ronald Reagan. George Walker Bush should not be limited to a mere 8 years in office. He is still relatively young and could continue his fine leadership for possibly 20 more years! Then we would not have to worry about a communist liberal like John Kerry ever stealing the highest office in our nation. Our forfathers did not include term limits in the Constitution because they knew that a great leader should be allowed to govern as long as his nation and God permits. George Walker Bush is that great leader. He should be allowed more than a mere four more years as a lame-duck President. Repeal the 22nd Amendment NOW!

Well while he's here:

I'd like to see a flat income tax please or possibly a national sales tax. If you could abolish the IRS while you're at it, fantastic.

Uhh... wasn't FDR the only president to serve more than 2 terms? Wasn't he a democrat, and, arguably, the most liberal politician of his time?

Not to mention that Clinton probably would have easily won re-election if he had been allowed to run again...

I think your sarcasm is a little misplaced here.

Roosevelt indeed was the only president to serve more than one term, and I'm sure his liberal ass burns in the depths of hades.

It is likely in the world of 2000 that Bill Clinton would have been elected to a third term. The 22nd Amendment was likely in place to keep that from happening. Now that the American public has seen the light I am sure that could never happen again. We have a truly great man in charge of this nation now. For the past four years God has blessed us with George Walker Bush, and I see no reason that we should be limited to only another four years. The would knows that you cannot mess with George Walker Bush, and now that America is solidly behind him he will lead us to the promise land!

I'm fine with people supporting G.W. Bush, but this is a little overboard. Almost sounds like you would offer him your wife or first born, thats if he refused the services of your mouth.

So it was believable? Cool. I wrote it wondering how easy or hard it would be to write things from the far-right. I found it quite easy! Maybe I'll make a switch to supporting Bush and walking in lock-step with the right wing. It's a lot easier than actually using common sense...

I agree with you, FN. But I'd go further and say that "gloating," in this context and with the known political composition of this board, is probably not quite an accurate description of Tom E's post. "Baiting" or "trolling" is more like it.

minor threadjack....

did anyone else think it was pretty strange, that while fox and nbc called ohio for bush, they didn't seem to have the guts to call nevada (or was it new mexico?) also, thus being able to call the election, while abc and cbs and cnn (did i unfairly lump abc in?) that were having conniptions about ohio, managed to make that call? Hell, I stayed awake for an extra 45 minutes, just waiting for someone to call the election, and then listen to Rather lose his mind....

Believable to the point that I thought you were just overdoing it on purpose, to piss off democrats more or something. But if it is that far from how you feel and not just a slight exaggeration, then yes you had me fooled. Apparently both the IRS and State Department have problems with that, from what I have read. Also, you need the consent of Canada to relocate to their nation...all hurdles that will cause problems for some of those blowhards. I admit considering a move to Canada, for a multitude of reasons, but I do hold dual citizenship (US/Canada) so I would have no trouble from Canada if I relocated. The problem would be that I am told the IRS would lay claims to tax income I earn while in Canada, which they would try to collect if I ever came back to live in the US.

Well, let me say this. I would consider a move out of country just as much if Kerry was elected, because I feel things would not be much different under Kerry the they are under Bush.

But I have actually had a small, "pushed to the back of my mind" desire to move to some south pacific island with limited tourism, for several years. Or, has anyone been to Iceland? I think I might like it from the small amount I have read (low population, geothermal power, President is more limited in power, I have wanted to really get back into fishing). Let me say though, this desire to move is not because of Bush even though I can not stand the guy. Bush just makes me think about it a little more from time to time.....

As a means of blowing off steam huffing about moving to Canada seems pretty harmless. There are far more destructive things people could do, so I don't see the problem with it.
