Reality TV
I know we have so fans and fans of non Reality TV shows.
Is it just me, or is the hype starting to wear off these reality TV? Seems like shows like Deseperate Housewifes and Nip-Tuck are the next wave. Also, seems like a changing of the trend of reality tv. By this, we are seeing more real-life shows. Business shows, hoax shows, ect. |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Eva Longoria is the leading candidate to be Mrs. cartman.

Yeah, I saw it on Conan last night when they do the segment in which they see what the children of celebrity couples would look like.

What's with the rich people coming out to host business shows? Branson, Trump, and Cuban? All are pretty bad.

Having maxed out all of the ego stroking that obtaining unbelievable amounts of wealth provides, these guys are looking for a new way to prove to the world and themselves that they are totally awesome. A TV show dedicated to oneself certainly fills that void. |

Agree. Trump I expected, but I though Cuban and Branson (who appears to atleast be the most humble of the three shows though) were better. |

Bad reality shows are dying off. TV goes in cycles and trends. Everyone tried to copy shows like Friends and Seinfeld. Good reality shows will stick around forever, but we won't see the insane number of reality shows forever. Execs will realize you can't put garbage out there, call it a reality show, and expect ratings.

Reality shows are here to stay. They are so much cheaper to make, that there is not as much of a risk.
Think of how much a Terri Hatcher (who is not a huge star, but is known and has had television success before) costs per episode and measure that against how much it costs to fly 20 nobodies somewhere and make them do cheesy tasks. |

I agree. It just that they will change, I don't see Survivor going forever. |

Rethinking this....I don't know. Would you honestly not have a big ego if you were in the class of these guys? Branson's show is more as PR move for his company then anything else. I think people would trade places with these guys if they could. Cuban's show was crappy. Jenga? Branson, is like fear factor. I actually found the Apprentice interesting to watch, though I found the candidates crappy and the business "ideas" I disagree with. This year, the show sucks. If you gonna try to be real about it, don't hire lawyers as candidates, but hire business people. |

The Benefactor. Worth seeing once just so you can see how truely bad reality TV can be at times.

Yeap. I mean, he was giving away a $1 million, and one of the contests between two candidates that were battling it out to stay on, he had them play a fiercy intense, heart-pounding, made-for-tv, must-see-of-the-year event, a game of Jenga. |
