Mike Vick = Randall Cunningham
Now that Vick has been around for a while and is starting to show what he can do the question is how far do you think he can go? Do you think he will be another Randall Cunningham type player, amazing at times but pretty much just better than average with tremendous potential? Where do you guys think his career will go?

As I've said before, he's average if you look at the stats he puts up, but the team wins when he's on the field, which matters more than throwing 4 TDs. |

I wouldn't compare him to Cunningham. Cunningham was more concerned with Cunningham's stats than anything else. His ego kept him from being a better player. Stats seem to be the last thing on Vick's mind when he plays.

Until Vick learns how to punt/quick kick he'll never be the complete package Cunningham was.

I remember one time against Buffalo (I think) Cunningham punted the ball 90 yards. Great stuff. |

well randal cunningham was a strange bird but before his injuries he carried an offense with no running game no offensive line our goto guys were keith byars (fullback) and keith jackson(tight end) calvin williams and fred barrnet were not bad but not probowl cailbur either....he did throw 30 touchdown passes and run for over 900 yeards the last year before he got crumpled vs green bay...he was never the same after that, he may have cared about his stats but he did everything he could to win

If Buddy Ryan didn't believe that an offensive line was a necessary evil, Randall Cunningham's career could have been drastically different.

At this point, it's tough to know wether he'll end up being closer to a Randall Cunningham or a Steve Young.

The difference between Cunningham and Vick (so far, anyway) was that Buddy Ryan never concerned himself with developing Cunningham as a quarterback, more or less letting him do his thing on gameday. But then again, they didn't have much of a choice with such a horrid offensive line. Antone Davis... remember him?
It seems that the coaches are going the opposite route with Vick, imposing the west-coast system on him to the point that it might be stifling some of his ad-libbing ability. |
