how important is gameplans for FOF?

how important is gameplans?


is it mainly 80% personal you have on team and like 20% for gameplans?


do you guys have more success doing your own gameplan or clicking on the recommend button?

I think gameplans are very important, and I never trust the computer to do it.

and by do the depth charts, usually go in and hit coach recommend and maybe tinker with a position or two.. i'm more of a gm.

the gameplans seems like there so much strategy there..

i got a lot to learn about it for offense and defense...

i probably best to make one for run defense, one for pass defense and one for balance...

and same for offense, make a running offense, pass offense and balance offense...


so much there on the gameplans to do, i guess i need to be careful and really think this thru when i make it


FOF is really a great game..loving it so far...

I don't think you need that many gameplans. I use one gameplan no matter who I'm playing. In my latest career of 19 seasons, I've gone 251-52-1, qualified for the playoffs all 19 years, made it to the Super Bowl 14 times, winning it 12 times. I have not adjusted my gameplan once during that time.

If you want to be successful, here is what you should do:
1. Decide what kind of offense you want to run (pass oriented, run & shoot, west coast, power running, etc).

2. Tinker around with each of the gameplan screens for game situations. It will take some time and some errors, but eventually if you think about what you are doing logically it's not difficult to design a game plan that will accomplish it.

My offense would probably be characterized as West Coast, I run short - medium routes, have a high completion percentage and have had the two highest rated passers in the history of my league.

3. Decide what kind of defense you want. Do you want to play conservative with zones and not have a high risk of giving up big plays, do you want to blitz alot and play aggressively?

I choose the first. My defense is alot like Tampa's. You have to put together long drives to score. I don't remember seeing me giving up a scoring drive of less than 7 plays.

4. Tinker with the defensive settings in the situation charts.

5. Then go out and obtain the kind of players you want. For example, I never look at a defensive player's man to man or bump & run rating. It's totally irrelevant to me because I play 2-Deep Zone 96%, 3-Deep 2%, 4-Deep 2%. I have lots of defensive players who flat out stink at man to man and bump & run, but it doesn't matter because I'm putting them in a position to use what skills they do have.

I have a gameplan for run heavy, run balance, a few for passing. I think 4 offensive. For defense I only have a few. Three I think. I worked more on that this past season, and it made a difference in my eNFL season with the Packers.

To answer your question, I change my gameplan myself. I don't trust the computer to do it for me. Of course, I'm a bit of a control freak.

It's not easy, but developing a system and focusing on players who fit that system gives you a great chance to be successful. I got bored with that team, switched to the worst team in the league and had them in the playoffs by year 2. We went on a string of playoff appearances and won a couple of championships. My point is that if you focus correctly you can be very successful.

Gameplans DEFINITELY matter. It always takes me a couple of games to get an offensive gameplan that works for my team. A few tweaks is sometimes all it takes; my passing game took off one season when I tweaked the pass distance percentages to favor more short passing. Watching games showed a number of hurries, which showed my O-Line wasn't giving my QB a lot of time, and reducing the passing distances skyrocketed his completion percentage and my offensive stats.

Either pick a system and pick players that play to that system, or tweak your gameplan to match your personnel. And watch the games closely for clues as to how your team is doing and what it's weaknesses might be so you can adapt.
