Marvel's demands in City Of Heroes Lawsuit..

Just got an update on the CoH lawsuit from one of my friends who's been following this travesty.. you can read it here but here's Marvel's demands.

1. A prelimenary injunction shutting down all the servers.
2. 3 times their profits paid to Marvel in lost revenue.
3. Damages.
4. TURN OVER THE CODE for Marvel use or destroy.

As silly as HA's postings have been all night. In this thread, I think they're a pretty valid assessment.

Is it true that Marvel has pretty much every superhero gimmick imaginable trademarked? I had a friend in college that was a big comics fan, and he was explaining how it was virtually impossible to create a comic character and give them any type of powers whatsoever without infringing on these assholes.

What a bonehead move by Marvel. Expect a sharp decline in their revenue. Idiots.

Yes Marvel, DC has not been infringed upon....only you.

While I agree the lawsuit is frivolous, I think it would have more bite if DC, Image, Dark Horse, etc. joined in.

Why would their revenue decline? Do you think this will really start a grass-roots boycott by the typical comic book buyer?

Both Marvel and DC share copyrights for the name superhero and other various generic names and this lawsuit is not a surprise.

Although it needs to be said, both DC and Marvel passed on this COH idea when it was presented to them before NCSoft started it. I guess Marvel sees that a online world will work, and that the one they were working on was not going to be as good, and decided to take COH to court.
