What's the longest you've seen a guy miss with injuries and return?

I ask because SE Sammie Farrell, from my dynasty report, suffered from Repetitive Concussive Syndrome, which caused him to miss all of 2016 and all of 2017. He finally is fully healed after the first preseason game of 2018, and retains decent ratings: 53/53 overall, down from 64/64 at the peak of his career, but he's also a 12-year veteran, so that could accout for some of the ratings loss. At any rate, he is slated to be, at worst, our WR3 this season. Has anyone seen a guy in FOF miss two *full* seasons and return to being productive? Assuming that he is productive, I'm pretty sure that this will be a first for me. His injury came during preseason of 2016, and he was originally listed as being Out for 90 weeks. I was assuming he'd retire.

The only player I've had with RCS was listed as being out 98 weeks (John Brundage - IHOF). He was injurred in the 1st regular season game, but DID retire at the end of the season. He was in his 9th year.

Was Farrell young? Perhaps that plays into it.

He's not young. He was a 10th-year man when he was hurt, so he made it through both the 10-11 year-end and the 11-12 year-end without retiring. He's 35 right now.

I had a player (NT Labubba Väestörekisterikeskus) who took up violin in the off season and his mother called him "not very good." Poor guy missed 133 weeks with clinical low self esteem.

i think EaglesFan27 just reported something like this with terrell owens. he tore his acl and was out 2 years, and when he came back his ratings were fine. he didnt play fine though, and ended up tearing something else after a only a few games.

he didnt say if its a new "masking" effect and players slowly lose their ratings after big injuries, of if t.o. really did come back fine, though, because he didnt stay healthy long enough to find out.

but this is very interesting, and needs to be looked into.

Farrell had one minor injury during the 2018 season. He played in 12 games, starting 10. He caught 34 passes for 478 yards, with 2 Td's and 7 drops. The drops are no surprise, as he's rated 2/4 in avoid drops. His other current ratings:

Third Down Catching: 84
Big-Play Receiving: 38
Courage: 48
Adjust to Ball: 32/34
Avoid Fumbles: 92/94
Endurance: 66

Comparing his numbers to 2015 (the last season that he played before this one), things look pretty similar: 41 catches, 564 yards, 5TD's, 6 Drops.

Wholly different game, but in FBCB I had a team decimated with injuries one season. Three Skull Fractures and a torn ACL within a two or three week span. All season enders. They were the top four scorers on my roster, of course. In any case the guy with the ACL missed almost 380 something days, and then in his second game back he had another season ender unrelated to the ACL. He returned for his senior campaign and was conference(Atlantic Sun) player of the year.

I don't recall there being any notable drop in his ratings after the injuries, I don't know if FBCB models that. I'll try and find a screen shot of his stats. That campaign at Campbell is one of my favorites in FBCB, or any sim I'd guess.

OK, I'll admit that I don't follow basketball very closely, but three skull fractures in three weeks?! Has basketball instituted a "heading" rule like soccer has or something? Sheesh!

He wasn't a player of mine at the time, but I had a MLB that I signed to mentor who was rated awful (low 30's) who had missed the entire previous season and all but 2 games of the year before that. After one season sitting on the bench where he recorded all of one tackle I re-signed him to continue to mentor. His ratings exploded in camp (upper 70's) and he ended up starting for the remaining two years and playing very well. He then wanted a fortune...

I played some more of that dynasty last night. Terrell missed almost 2 full seasons with a torn ACL and when he came back his ratings were still good, but he tore a rotator cuff 5 games into that 3rd season. Now, in his 4th season he is back and still rated 63/65 (down from 68/70 in his prime.) So far this season, he is averaging 7 catches and 80 yards a game. He is also averaging just under a TD a game! I'd say he is playing up to his ratings.

I believe it is one of FBCB's small weaknesses. There isn't enough variety in the severe injuries that players may suffer. So "Skull Fractures" appears far too often. Injuries, especially long term ones aren't near as frequent as my example indicates. I often go a whole season without having anyone miss more than a single game in a given stretch. That particular season for the Camels was particularly hard, to say the least.

Our training facilities were "very poor", I was certain that some days we just couldn't get all of the people to move their cars.

Two of the skull fractures did occur in one game where the other team's Power Forward fouled out in 6 minutes of play. I envisioned a scenario where he slammed my guards' heads together like Arnold with those Dobermans in True Lies. The power forwards name...."Laimbeer". You decide.
