OT: What comes up randomly on my iPod

yep, totally bored at work, and I'm just an hour into my shift (only 9 and a half hours left).

so, here's the next 20 songs that appear randomly on my iPod...probably the bulk of which you'll want to ridicule me for:

Love and Rockets - Ying and Yang and the Flowerpot Man
Christina Aguilera - Dirrty
Chemical Brothers - Got Glint?
Janet Jackson - Miss You Much (I did warn you)
A Perfect Circle - Imagine
Steve Vai - The Boy-Girl Song
Huey Lewis & the News - Walking on a Thin Line (the best song so far, by far)
Pat Benator - We Belong (um, sorry)
Collective Soul - The World I Know
De La Soul - I C Y'All (2nd best)
Van Halen - When It's Love
Wu-Tang Clan - In The Hood (nice work music)
George Michael - Faith (really, I have no excuse for that at all)
Elton John - Believe
Def Leppard - Women
Kenny Rogers & Kim Carnes - Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer
Naughty By Nature - OPP (yeah, you know me)
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf (oh yeah)
Beastie Boys - Root Down (getting good now)
Ray Charles - The Christmas Song (a nice way to end)

Ha. It happens. Not many people would like the bands I listed. Against Me! is the most unique on their. Like a hardcoreish folk thing. They're insanely bad ass.

Everytime there is one of these "what music are you listening to" threads and I post mine, there is always this sort of, "ok that was weird "feeling I get from everyone else. I like it.

tk, I get that a lot too. I think it has to do with if you shuffle by album or by song, but admittedly, i've only got about 150 songs (plus four audiobooks) on my iPod currently.

I just got an iPod Thursday -- I had a bunch of gift certificates from my boss that just about covered the cost . I have about half my music collection done so far -- converting CDs takes is surprisingly slow. My music was on my laptop and my desktop, so I spent this morning meshing the two together. It's actually updating all my additions and corrections right now.

What I have learned from my iPod's shuffle mode is that were I to post my random play list, you would all conclude that I'm the token girl pop power ballad guy, with the occassional street cred thrown in to confuse people.

I want one

Doesn't even have to be an Ipod. I will take a cheaper, slightly smaller MP3 player....

converting CDs takes is surprisingly slow

ultimately, I got to a point where I just decided it was easier to download the thing instead of ripping it from CD.

Then again, these days I mostly just put the iPod onto random repeat, so I listen to whatever comes up Or podcasts. I've got a few of those I download and listen to (2-3 times a week usually).

The biggest thing I had to come to grips with on my iPod - since I use someone else's computer to transfer music (my laptop can't run XP) - was figuring out how to set it so that if I deleted the music off of the iTunes laptop's HDD, the iPod wouldn't say "oh, hey, the music's not on the PC anymore, let's take it off of the iPod, too!"

Once I got that squared away, it's been gravy.

This is why I've switched to Anapod Explorer.
I got really annoyed when I had all my music on it at one point and after doing a firmware update, all the defaults resetting and it trying to automatically sync with iTunes (which was empty because I don't have that much room on my computer).

Not sure if I'm gonna need a firmware update anytime soon, but if I do, I'll keep that in mind.
