what can we and can't we ask?

I just saw Marmel's thread disappear after SkyDog locked the other one.

I can't say I really see the need for either.

This is all a little crazy covert. I don't disagree with SkyDog's actions at all after his explanation. I just wish all the threads would stop being deleted or locked. I think we should have one thread where we can discuss what happened and keep it confined to that one thread. Just my $.02.

I just don't think it's fair if open discussion can't be had (assuming it can avoid de-volving into a troll royal-rumble).

I just don't see how Marmel deserved an auto-suspension for criticizing the decision to lock the H.A. poll. The post was deleted on top of it.

I mean, am I wrong to feel this way?

I think HA's poll was just trying to stir up trouble so I can understand locking that. I didn't see what Marmel posted so I can't comment on that. But I don't think you're wrong to be upset about the way the aftermath is being handled. I don't think that continually locking and deleting threads is going to stop people from wanting to know what went on.

I think the community has the right to discuss what's happened. I don't feel like I am entitled to know what happened, by there are folks who I think are and haven't been here since Friday.

Marmels post was basically this:

title : too bad

body:

Unlock the thread and let the discussion continue. If you don't want your decisions criticized, step down as moderator.

{end paraphrase}

I think there was another sentence in there, but it didn't sound too confrontational to me, more like something that just had a tone of frustration to it.

Okay, now all of a sudden one of SD's posts in this thread disappeared. It's like an alternate dimension.

Yeah, but I think the point is a lot of us don't really find that to be so reasonable.

You're ensuring that there can be no public discussion of the issue.

edit: this is in reply to SkyDog's post which is showing below this post (the board issue).

Yes, because I SPECIFICALLY said:

If SkyDog doesn't want people to talk about his moderating, he should stop making it such an issue.

Me thinking I've come to know HA a little bit over the years, that poll is simply a result of his sense of humor mixed with his return from being banned recently. It looks like it would just have flown over as a bad attempt at being funny, but some other bannings and threads closings going on recently make it tough to judge.

I saw Marmel's thread and he just asked for an explaination (maybe one or two words were a little bit offensive, but in a fashion 99% of the people would use), yet there's no way to proove who deleted his thread.

Maybe this is why FOFC is getting a rep as "SkyDog Central"

I think H.A.'s poll was probably very serious.

And it should not be. This isn't "SkyDog Moderating Decisions Central," but for some reason people want it to be. As I've said, elsewhere, people blew up over nothing. Two guys got 2-day suspensions on a weekend--FOFC's slowest time. This thing should have been over and done with. If you feel the need to read my complete thoughts on the matter (and others' concerns), then go to this thread: http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/f...ad.php?t=33087

If there is further need for explanation, PM, IM, or e-mail me.
