I have Marc Bulger as my starting QB, and he has been for the last few years (9 or so). I drafted a backup QB about 6 or 7 years ago, and he's been riding the pine ever since. His ratings keep on going up, and for the last 3 years I always get offers from other teams that included a high 1st round pick and some other decent player.

I haven't traded him away yet, and he has resigned with me for a small amount ($2M this year, and doesn't go too much higher than that). I think I'll be letting Bulger go after this last run at a championship, and hope that this QB can step in and continue my dominance.

The funny thing is that I just noticed last night he's a Fan Favorite. He's started about three games in his whole career (due to injuries to Bulger). Is there something about him that the fans like? His ratings? It sure isn't his stats.

The fans are women. His name is Jesse Palmer.

It has happened IRL. When Steve Young was holding the clipboard for Joe Montana for several seasons (don't remember exactly how many) he was still a fan fav. Of course my memory could be clouded as this was about 15 years ago.

No idea Young was liked when he was on the bench... and maybe this QB is my version of Palmer? Well, his leadership and intelligence are good. So it can't be Palmer.

For what it's worth, I never liked Young. Ever. Even now. And I am a die hard 49er fan. I can't stand the fact that he took over for the best player ever. While he was still good (see: almost bringing a terrible Kansas City team to the Superbowl).

I respect the hell out of him, but I never liked him.

The backup is always the most popular player on the team... at least here in Minnesota, where I still hear people calling for Gus Frerotte.

I've always liked Young and it's because of him that I will always hate Vinny Testaverde, may he rot in football hell.

Oh wait, he already is.

BWAHAHAHA!!!

Loved Montana too and was really happy to see Steve get passed the torch and succeeded.

Anyway, yeah, Young had a lot of fans even when he was on the bench.
