Trainee Sale Question

Hey guys and gals,

I'm back with another question. I currently have a keeper trainee who's brilliant+4 (basically will pop this week to magnificient) that I was originally planning on keeping for my roster once I was finished training him (around E-T). However, I've since realized that there's a decent hit to take salary-wise if I choose to go that route as he's not a US-born goalie. I've been looking on the market for such a goalie around brilliant - magnificient and found one while I was looking today that comes due Monday night. Right now I have some cash from selling my other goalie, but I'm still about $1 million shy of affording him ($1.5 million to be safe).

The question is: do you think it would be wise to put the first guy on the market for a cheap price trying to attract a bid by Monday evening that will give me enough to buy the other goalie? The clear downside if I fail to get that $1.5 million bid in time is that I will have to find a new keeper to replace my main trainee.

Thanks for your opinions and advice.

Well, to be fair, you're only talking about $5K per week at, say, ET and even less than that before. So, that's less than $100K per season extra. If you go up a couple more levels (mythical, etc) then it starts getting very cost prohibative ($20K per week extra, etc). So, of course, in the end, is it worth possibly losing money and having to go find a new trainee when you don't know what this one will go for? I think if we're talking only $5K in salary per week as a bonus, it's not worth it. But at $10K plus, that's when it starts getting a little crazy as you're talking well over $100K per season long term so probably $1M across the life of the keeper.

That's a good way to think about it. Thanks for your thoughts.

I've actually been looking at the same thing, more or less, because next year I should have about $10M earmarked for a new keeper and finding an American seems like an almost necessity because at that level, I was looking at $20K per week in salaries extra.
