Seriously- this show is hilarious. I wish I hadnt missed the first season -its laugh out loud funny, and without descending solely and wholely to the "humor" we've come to associate with sitcoms. Im curious if there are any other fans of the show around here...

It's too methodically "clever" for me, but I can see it's appeal I suppose.

I thought tonight was a bit of a disappointment but this is one of the funniest shows to be put on tv in a long time I think.

No way... tonight's was awesome!

"Afternoon Delight", "I got a $6,500 suit", "Maybe I'll put it in her brownie" etc. LOL!

Though the best line was "Unfortunately Buster had not mastered the art of dropping slowly" (more or less). I couldn't stop laughing for minutes!

I love this show. The death trick was my favorite moment this season.

"Something's gone terribly wrong here..."

Laugh out loud funny every Sunday.

Know this is a bit late, but I just rented the first season on DVD and watched an episode for the first time ever.

Could be the funniest show I've ever watched, great show.

The one line that sticks out in my mind and had me laughing for 10 minutes was the one George Michael said about needing the leather jacket for when he was on his hog and needed to go into a controlled slide. That kid is great.

I just can't believe this is on network TV..it's a sitcom, and it's good.

the wife and I actually just started watching Season 1 on DVD tonight as well. We both were laughing pretty hard. The guy playing G.O.B. consistently has me in stitches.

and what does Samdari have against Jason Bateman?

He's just jealous is all .

Bateman definetly has the straight man down. He's great in the show.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox Broadcasting Co. plans to shuffle its Sunday comedy lineup in May to make room for the addition of new cartoon "American Dad" on May 1.

As part of the schedule change, the network has opted to reduce the episode order on the Emmy-winning ratings laggard "Arrested Development," but the specifics still are being worked out.

As of May 1, "American Dad" will slide into "Arrested's" 8:30 p.m. slot behind "The Simpsons." For the first three weeks of the month, "Dad" will be followed at 9 p.m. by another original "Simpsons" episode.

Ah... there is a chance that it is just less episodes ordered, which I wouldn't mind because it will allow focusing on the fewer episodes to make them top notch!

I mind! I'd rather have 10 bad episodes of arrested development than 10 ok shows of american dad.

that said, im sure they'll cancel it. i love it too much.

Bah, the goal should be as many GOOD episodes of Arrested Development. For example look at the best British shows. I'm glad that there was more time to develop each episode of Blackadder. It allows it to survive better over time. I'd like to watch Arrested Development DVDs 5 years from now and realize all of the episodes were great and there was no stinker in the bunch!

knowing the way fox operates, there wont be a next season. if american dad does decent at all, arrested development is over.

add in the return of family guy, which has sunday night written all over it....where would you put arrested development then? sunday is the cushiest spot fox has got, and it cant even find an audience there.

It wasn't picked up for a third season. Maybe if they fucking advertised it more or maybe instead of putting the simpsons after the super bowl they couldve put arrested development on. I know the simpsons needs all the help it can get with it's viewers but COME ON

Or maybe, just maybe, it's not as good as the critics think it is (such as "Million Dollar Baby".

But no worries for you guys: Bitch and complain enough, buy enough DVDs of it, and perhaps they'll bring the show back (like "Family Guy").

One of the top 5 shows on TV right now

1. Simpsons
2. Scrubs
3. Family Guy
4. Arrested Development
5. Law and Order SVU

ok, so if you add in Smallville those are the only 6 shows I ever find time to watch - so maybe I'm bias, but Arrested Development is pure gold.

Simply you joke, the Simpsons hasn't been funny since I was at least in high school. And you left off House and Lost.

Disappointed to see this is happening, as I have just started getting into this show.

The quote in my sig is from one of the first AD episodes I watched (was on about a month ago).

I was literally rolling when they said that, although you had to understand the context (a character had painted himself completely blue to try to be a member of the Blue Man Group).

Borrowing from the motion sickness item, here's another show I can't watch because some stupid director (excuse me, "auteur") thinks it's boffo cool to use shaky hand-held cameras.

What's the point? The show is funny. The show is still funny if the camera isn't jiggling around, only you've gained 25% more audience.

Won't happen. Family Guy is a cartoon, so it's easy to get it up and running again. AD's actors will go on and do other things. You may not be able to get a lot of them back.

i am still distraught over this news.

thats it. lets all either:

1) buy FOX
or
2) start our own station, that only airs cancelled FOX programs we used to love (arrested development, andy richter controls the universe, family guy kind of, futurama, greg the bunny (not for me, but others, sure), um....we might need some new programming, too, come to think of it).

Don't forget Get A Life. I'm thinking Chris Elliot is still available, so we could probably have new episodes produced.

Oh, and the Garry Shandling Show.

I've really enjoyed Arrested Development and have even gotten a couple of friends hooked on it. It's a great show and I can't see why Fox would drop a Ron Howard show so quickly.

cause people don't watch it? (and yes, I enjoy it)

Does anyone else think TiVo and the like are hurting some shows in the ratings? I know the shows I TiVo are shows my girl generally doesn't enjoy, so I just record them and watch what she does. I Tivo AD and the Simpsons, while we watch Extreme Home Makeover and Desp. Housewives (she controls the remote if there's no sports I want to watch on). I tape Scrubs so we can watch house. I trade Lost for that 70's show and the west wing for American Idol. And I generally traded The OC for Survivor (not right now though). And on Friday's we record numbers while we're out.

So if we were a neilson family, there are a few shows that are slipping under the radar that I really enjoy.

I doubt this affects the ratings too much, but I wonder if it plays into some of the shows. I don't know why they just don't figure out a way to put a chip or something in TV's or Tivo to measure ratings. I could care less as long as I don't have to give out my name for Spam, heck I don't care if they know what I watch.

What's the chances of this on HBO? They seemed to have been doing a lot of "blue dotting" and "bleeping" this season, suggesting an unrated version. Why not move it HBO? It would be funnier than any comedy series they have ever had.

the blue dots and bleeps are more for comedic effect than titilation.

Dude, I know, but what is more funny: A blue dot over Jeffery Tambor's sagging butt, or an actual shot of Jeffery Tambor's sagging butt.
