FOF Position Changes

I am new to FOF and am beginning a dynasty with an allocation draft of fantasy players.

I am wondering if I have to pay close attention to certain position listings or can I change positions without a big change in ratings. The positions I am referring to are:

FL and SE
LT and RT
LG and RG
LDE and RDE
LDT, RDT, and NT
MLB, SILB, and WILB
SLB and WLB
LCB and RCB

What brought this on is that I drafted a SE rated 89/89. I am now looking for another wide receiver. Another SE is available who is rated 78/83. There is also a FL available who is a 69/69. I would rather have the 78/83, but am wondering if he will lose a lot if I then move him to FL.

Any help on this is appreciated.

In your immediate case, you will probably lose absolutely nothign when switching him, assuming you do it right away. These moves within position groups are usually pretty harmless.

Now, when you switch outside your group -- DT to DE, or RB to WR, or S to CB, etc -- then you start to get a lot more variability. You might find a few searches here worthwhile, ther has been some work done on this, showing the weights that work for each new position group, approximately. (It's all about player weight, by the way)

Take the split end, and switch him - he'll be fine.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

You might want to check out the tips on position changes, there are threads about it. Especially if players have the wrong weight, you can change the player to a new position. Some under/over weight players are stuck at their position and can only move to another position, with usually a big loss of ratings.

LT and RT don't switch well too often, RT to LT does but vice versa can be a real harmful change.

The 78/83 SE changed to a FL could become close to 75/83.
