Vikings pick up Tice's option for 2005

Quote:
Owner Red McCombs told Tice in a phone call Monday that he would pick up the coach's $1 million option for 2005. The Vikings have lost six of their last nine games, but at 8-7 still have a shot at the playoffs.

"Although our expectation of winning the division was not met, we feel that the program Mike Tice has guided gives us the talent base to have to success today and in the future," McCombs said in a statement. "Our expectations are high for the upcoming playoffs and for next year."

As a Packers fan, I am very pleased to see this.

What terrible pay for a head coach. The Vikings need to step it up as an organization.

That there, that's not me
I go where I please
I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

In a little while
I'll be gone
The moment's already passed
Yeah, it's gone

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here....

I'm going to have to waste a red flag on this call.

Bad idea. Tice is a nice guy, and a decent assistant, but he's crap as a head coach. He needs to go.

This merely confirms that McCombs has no interest in winning. I really wish someone would step up and buy the Vikings from him already.

I'm with you Arles - this is great news for the Packers. Now if we could just get the Bears to rehire Dave Wannestadt...

In the words of philosopher king Will Smith (a.k.a. the Fresh Prince): "I think I can beat Mike Tice, son."

That's the point. The owner wants to keep it low so that there is not much 'baggage' when the team is sold/moved/whatever happens.
