A trickier puzzle
Listed alphabetically below are some clues. This is a two-part puzzle.
1. Separate the answers to the clues into their proper eight categories 2. Six clues are unique – why? Which ones? Adults, children, and clean clothing Almost four dozen horses Army ranchers Barely, oh my! Bay of communists Beer and hot dogs Big but sinkable Big diggers Bucking range Champion cherry tree choppers Country peanuts CrO’s Double trouble Fish or mammal? Ford warriors Head face cards Large and urban Lucy Kinsella’s price of corn Native earthtones Nice cars Not mares or turkeys Papal origins and sheep Paul, Pat, and Nick Red-suited rattles Remember the high-reachers Sporting marauders TD was one, only different They both steal They give you the willies Union aircraft Visa brothers

Hmm, for a moment I thought these might be NFL teams, but there are only 31 of them;
Paul, Pat, and Nick - these could all be Saints ? Native Earthtones - Browns ? Remember the high-reachers - Titans ? Fish or mammal - Dolphins ? Eight categories *could* be the divisions, but that would be 25 for only 8 categories. Maybe there are some baseball teams? Double trouble - Twins ?? edit: "Native" earthtones could also be Redskins, I guess...maybe more appropriately.

Lucy Kinsella's price of corn refers to Field of Dreams. Could be a ball field.

Maybe the six unique clues are team names that appear in more than one sport: Giants, Cardinals, etc.

Maybe has something to do with College Football teams? The top 25 teams? The 6 left over are teams not in the rankings? Not sure.

...and this sounds like a dual clue also, to two teams in the same city -- Cardinals and Rams |

Breaking into tentative categories:

I find it hilarious that digamma considers Kansas City not to have a MLB franchise!

There are 31 NFL cities--which would match the 31 clues (as opposed to the 32 teams).
Native Earthtones = Indians & Browns Maybe the six are six NFL cities without MLB franchises? Green Bay, Jacksonville, Carolina, and now I'm blanking (I don't think we can count Washington anymore). |

Big but sinkable -- to me, this sounds like a "Titanic" reference (aka Titans) but I can't figure out the other clue that seems to point there...
