Damn!

You considered alternatives, Vex? I mean, doing the NT trainee thing, U-20 guy thing...unconventional training methods such as passing or set pieces?

I know there are lulls, but where most of the teams are now (fofc teams), it's pretty much on auto-pilot. Buy one or two guys per season, sell one or two trainees per season, and that's it.

It's a mountain of "work" to toss away.

Hope you saved a starter or two, CW, because I'm not going easy on you (part of that is because of an injury situation- I doubt Little will be back in time for Sunday's game, for instance)

If I win this week I might not be able to accept/challenge for the next week.

I'm going to be on vacation in Hawaii and not sure if I'll have access/time for internet.

dude,

hawaii rocks. where are you going in HI? If Waikiki, there is an internet cafe by the outrigger on the beach. $3 for 20 minutes...

or find the public library or a Y.. They tend to have some free internet time.

best regards,

tim

Well that is where we are staying...I'll try and check it out, but when I'm leaving sub or near zero degree weather for 75-80 degree weather I hope that I can find some better things to do than surf the internet.

Thanks though!

Houston Hippopotami - Galesburg Avengers 7 - 0

View game: HT Live
Date: 1/13/2005 at 01.00
MatchID: 31244377
Arena: The Hippodrome
Crowd: 1692

The crowd of 1692 turning up at The Hippodrome today were greeted by some nasty showers of rain. Hippopotami tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Larsson - Dyrholt, Satyanarayana, Armengol - Berkovic, Tryggvesson, Little, Didriksen, Danielsson - Spagnuolo, Peiffer.

Galesburg tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Tirado - Quiroz, Arellano, Guinot - Ibn-Akram, Słomiński, Conklin, Ho-Tgioe, Brightbill - Bladhall, Gusã.

After a fine move down the middle Ronni Berkovic nearly gave the home side one up in the 9:th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Gualtiero Spagnuolo acted with superior experience when in the 17:th minute he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal to 1-0 for his Hippopotami. Dani Gusã almost scored an equalising goal for Galesburg in the 18:th minute, but Johan Larsson made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. In the 35:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Gualtiero Spagnuolo dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Hippopotami. Hippopotami put themselves up 3 - 0 when Eric Peiffer broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. The teams went for a half-time break at 3 - 0. Hippopotami held the ball, with a clear 60 percent possession rate.

In the 58:th minute Hippopotami put themselves up 4 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Thomas Little coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. Hippopotami put their lead ahead another goal as Thomas Little struck home the 5 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. The structure of the game started to change as Hippopotami decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. In the 64:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Gualtiero Spagnuolo dashed through, knocking home 6 - 0 for Hippopotami. By then Gualtiero Spagnuolo was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Galesburg kept trying to force their way through on the right side. Tony Bladhall got his chance in the 71st minute, but the home sides left defence held his position and was able to stop the attack. In the 79:th minute Hippopotamis Xacobo Armengol received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. In the 85:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Hans Didriksen dashed through, knocking home 7 - 0 for Hippopotami. Hippopotami, bringing the final ball possession rate to 61 percent, dominated the battle.

Most important Hippopotami player was Robert Tryggvesson. Ronni Berkovic on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Tony Bladhall. Peter Guinot on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 0.

HIGHLIGHTS

1-0 Gualtiero Spagnuolo(17)
2-0 Gualtiero Spagnuolo(35)

4-0 Thomas Little(58)

I got a magnificent PIC'ing with my trainees in fixture. That's not too shabby either, but, yeah, it's not mythical.

What a game! (tho, I doubt Maltby would agree)

EDIT: Perhaps he'd enjoy the game but the final result was less than ideal for him.

so do we do a 3rd place match as a friendly this upcoming week, or just do the first place match only?
