I like beans, not as a beef substitute, obviously, but instead as an adjunct.

Straight chili, beans. For chili dogs, no beans.

Beans rule.

If you like chili, go to the Chili Cookoff at Stone Mountain. I went every year when I was in the ATL, and now I even go back and visit friends when it hits. All the beer, chili and interesting people you could ever want.

Beans are ok, but beans don't make the chili, imo. Its like adding cut up hot dogs to a chili, can be good depending on the mood, but not a basic necessity.

Beans, and for the love of God Trout!

This poll needs trout. There's an "I hate chili" How about "I hate Chili, I'd rather have a trout shoved in my rectum.".

Gotta have beans for real chili.

I agree, no beans is good for chili dogs, but that's a big exception.

Gotta have beans, and peppers and onions while yer at it.

Well, let's see. That makes 2 of the resident Texas people on the board who use beans. I think the people who disagree are the ones who are wrong.

I had Cheli's Chili tonight and it was good. 26 ounces of chili (that's over a pound and a half of chili) for just a few bucks. Heat it up yourself in your stove pot and you've got good eats.

That's a chili mac.

..and for those of you who don't add beans and then pour it on a Hot Dog, that's chili sauce.

Chili without beans is like a hot dog without mustard.

Kidney Beans, not pintos. And only a can or two, vs about 3 lbs of meat. But beans are a must!
