Did you know that Peroxide causes throat cancer? And all teeth whitners use Peroxide. Next time you are at it read your toothpaste label. "...is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.)

A recent Men's Health article discussed this very topic. They concluded that the best teeth whitner was the one performed by your Dentist and then a distant second was your over the counter kits that " individual mouth pieces".

my mother is a dental hygentist and she said that the strips and the "whitening toothpaste" don't do as well as the gel kits. I'd recommend going to your dentist and have them make a model of your teeth and getting the mouth guard looking thing made and get a kit from them. It'll make your teeth sensitive the 2 weeks you do it initially, but it goes away after a few days after you stop.

My uncle's a big-time dentist (does the work for most of the Phillies and Eagles) and says the only thing that really works is lasers done by a dentist. Needless to say, I'm eagerly awaiting the time when he will do my teeth for free.

Well, I know some folks who actually brush their teeth using Arm & Hammer baking soda. They literally dip their brush in the powder and brush their teeth like that. I do know they released their own toothpaste in that form, but I haven't tried it myself.

I remember reading a Consumers Report study on teeth whiteners and they found that contrary to what any product insists, you will only change 2-3 shades. That's not much if you've ever seen a shading diagram.

Best bet is to have it professionally done which isn't all that cheap. I'm guessing somewhere between 200-400 dollars.

My mom works at a dentisty, I'd tell you her job title if it wasn't 4 long words. She pulls teeth, fills cavities, all that shit. Anyways, she's also done some whitening on my brother- he tried strips, but finally went in and had her remove some enamel and what have you to reduce stainage. Needless to say, it worked better than anything else, but probably would run the average person a lot more.

Also, that type of procedure might not be for you, depends on how your teeth are. If they are just dulled, then this isn't what you want.

BTW, both of my roomates swallow their paste after brushing, and do not rinse.

Since my mom is in that field I always tell them it's something your not susposed to do.

1st roomate: "No way man, if you rinse you waste your brushing."

Horrible logic.

2nd roomate brought it up himself.

"Yo, anyone else get stomach pain in the mornings if you brush yo' teef the night befo' wit'out rinsin'?"

"Uhh, you shouldn't do that, it's not good for you, that's why you probably feel sick in the morning."

"Nah fuck dat man, dat shit tastes too good."

Good advice never smoked and don't drink tea. But I do have a cup or two of cofee black so that has slightly dulled one of my teeth not that noticeable so I guess I will just use a strip for a couple of days and it should be ok along with adding cream to my coffee.thanks

Yeah, fluoride is pretty scary. I mean look at our parent's teeth. They didn't have fluoride.

i had a roommate that did that, too.

he also dipped his q-tips in rubbing alcohol to clean his ears out.

that freaked me out, and i muttered about it under my breath, but he heard me from 3 rooms away.

Well, I imagine that most women who know what bleach tastes like would be pretty ameanable to getting their teeth whitened with ball butter. I mean, they can't be that picky.
