That's the most eagerly anticipated show of the season! Another hit for CBS.

About half way through I did a quick equation that showed the odds of catching the bad guy in the first episode was 100%

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they can stretch this for a season.

Nice to see Natalie from Sports Night.

Well, i had to account for some variables.. like other sucky programming.. eventual time slot.. bad executives.. bad writing

in the end.. it was still too much for the show to overcome

I watched 5 minutes before realizing that it wasn't going to hold my attention at all. Then, I started playing Mercenaries.

As a math guy, I thought this show could be really awesome or really crappy. I didn't watch it, but it looks like it's the latter. Either way, I'll probably watch it next time it comes on, to enjoy or to mock.

I thought it wasn't terrible but wasn't great either, but that's not unusual for a new series w/ all the new character intros and such. I'll definitely watch again though I expect it will become the same story every week very quickly.

Actually, I learned something new the other day. If you come up with a wrong calculation and the difference between what you had and what you should have had is divisible by 9, that means that somewhere two or more numbers were transposed.

Something I didn't know. This even works with decimals and numbers transposed before and after the decimal. Weird.

I didn't think it was any worse than Cold Case, the CSI spinoffs, Hawaii, Medical Investigations or whatever other "crime-scenish" shows are on. The fact that they were planning on throwing to Friday means they never expected it to do anything anyway.

I did enjoy that it had the Assistant principal from Boston Public, and the Sliders girl, and Ryan's pregnant ex-girlfriend from the OC.

My wife and I are really enjoying this show. A reasonable job of applying math (sure, the details are off, but you can't explain higher mathematics in a 1-hour show), a cute chick with a gun, a smoking hot chick, did I mention the big guns?, and a high geek factor. I can't believe this group is so negative on this show.

I've been watching regularly and enjoying it as well. My wife watches whenever she's awake enough to, and usually asks me what it's about if she's not. Considering Friday night is a television night for us anyway (Joan of Arcadia, and she likes JAG), Numb3rs is easily an every-weeker.

We watched the first two episodes and then ran into a slew of events that caused us to simply tape the following and not watch them, not yet. We like what we saw in the first two and will definitely watch the other epîsodes when we find a moment...

My girl and I enjoy this show. Its not great, but its a nice hour.

I think the show got caught up in the "House" syndrome. A show is overly hyped during the lead-up to a sporting event (House during the baseball playoffs, this during football), and people make fun of it based off some stupid commercials... then it turns out the show is pretty decent (House is probably my 2nd favorite show to Lost)... I think it really comes from that horrible show about the DA's daughter and the Porn moguls son show from like 2 baseball seasons ago. Fox promoted that to death, and it was horrible... then they try again with House, but this one actually is a quality show (not the best acting, but it works well). CBS saw this and promoted the hell out of it (not the best acting as well, but it keeps you interested)... Plus the math girl is hot.

I have recorded this show, and have watched it as something of a "filler" when I'm just moping around with time to kill. It isn't awful, though I do admittedly cringe at the opening credits sequence (A quick TiVo advance solves that, at least).

The story about the skyscraper, interestingly, was largely derived from an actual story -- with the CitiCorp building in the 1970s. (Slight differences, but shoddy workmanship made the building unsafe... in real life the building already had a massive top counterweight as described on the show, but the flaws were in fact pointed out by a college student)

In any event... I guess I'm stil watching, though without much real enthusiasm.

We've been watching it. Not too bad, except for the concept that the FBI never used math to solve anything until this guy's brother came along. And the old stereotype that all math geeks have to be idiots with women. And Judd Hirsch with what looks to be a giant chaw of tobaccer in every scene he's in - he's worse than Dustin Hoffman.

Just curious as to whether anyone else is still watching this..

It has become a bit of a staple in our house... one of those shows that I look forward to, but I'm not desperate to watch... SO I'd just call it solidly in the "good" category - nothing more, nothing less.

fwiw, it was #33 last week, a spot above it's competitor at the same slot - Law and Order.

I think that's pretty decent for ratings on a Friday night show, but I don't know ratigns all that well.

I've seen an episode or two of this. I can't stand the lead guy and thought it was a dumb show, but maybe I just happened to catch a bad episode/s.

I definitely think it's not for some people... By the lead guy - do you mean the lead FBI guy or the Professor?

we watched every week in the first half season, when Sabrina Lloyd was in there but have kind of drifted away at the start of last season, when they replaced her with the other extremely annoying lady and that other FBI guy who seems dumb as a brick. Sad that two supporting cast member can kill my interest like that.
