Phil Jackson might Coach the Lakers Again

"Lakers owner Jerry Buss and general manager Mitch Kupchak met with Kobe Bryant for a half hour during the game Tuesday to discuss Phil Jackson, sources told the Los Angeles Times.

Bryant said that he would agree to Jackson's return, the paper reported.

Jackson, who is in Australia on vacation with former player Luc Longley, told the paper in an e-mail that he was thinking about the possibility."

After all his complaining about Kobe, if Jackson goes back, he will have lost the last little shred of respect that I have for him.

You know, when the Tomjanovich resignation was first announced, I immediately thought of this. A second later, I dismissed it as outlandish improbability. Never again.

I can't see this happening. It seems like too many bridges have been burned between Jackson and the Lakers.

Actually this might make the most sense. Speculation has abounded about where Phil would coach next but what good jobs will be opening soon? The only coach that might be canned is Flip Saunders in MIN and have a team that Phil might be comfortable with. If Kobe is willing to listen to Phil and accept him back in then LA is probably the best fit if no major other openings occur.

Might as well bring back Rambis. If Jackson wants to come back to coaching I would suggest the Knicks job (or the Pistons if Larry takes the Knicks).

I think it will be an issue of whether or not he wants to coach anymore. In his book (the way I talk about this thing on FOFC, I should be getting paid), he spends a lot of time talking about how turning 60 is a big deal to him and that his medical scare last season kind of smacked him in the face.

I can't see him going to the Knicks, because they are a rebuilding project. If he coaches again, it would probably only be with the Lakers (or maybe the Heat, b/c of his respect for Shaq). Still, I got the feeling that he felt very mistreated by the Lakers by the end of last season.
