Set Pieces Insanity

So I signed a 30 year old Passable defender last season strictly for his set pieces ability...which is Formidable. Now..I'm certainly not complaining about this but he has played four games for me and has either scored from a free kick or penalty shot in every game so far...including in last night's game which saved my bacon.

Has anyone else run into this? Is this just a run of extremely good luck or is this somewhat of a trend?

I have a WC SP middie that scored a hattrick last night. His other hattrick was all SP goals.

I had an excellent SP/pass experience guy who went through a streak of 4 or 5 straight games with a goal. So I doubt it's crazy, but from what I understand, it has a lot to do with the goalie on the other side of the pitch, too.

Well I figured since I'm playing in Div 6 with a bunch of other newbies that since maybe there would be such a disparity between his formidable rating and everyone else's passable/inadequate ratings that it would make a difference. But I didn't think the difference would be that great...or come into effect that often.

What's the usual markup for the upper levels on SP?

I'm keeping an eye on one player but the other coach seems to want/expect an extra $2mil on the price.

Well if you're just looking at a 27-31 year old passable player at any position you can get him for real cheap. I purchased mine for $16,000 last season and like I said in the previous post...he's scored four goals in four games for me from the wingback position. I have a 33 year old forward with a 150 TSI and he was the leading scorer in my div VI last season. So him comined with my 300 TSI wingback are my most productive players goal-wise.

in the US, Fair Oaks Diamonds (70406) has some good ones too, including a former player (Olivier Perrin a formidable striker/WC or so SP) he tries to sell every week

I am using a Solid Keeper with World Class SP, he has scored 5 goals in his first 2 games for me last season...

I have a mag SP guy I am training (hes 19 and 2 weeks from formidible scoring)...

I also put 1-2 head defenders in, and I have SP goals ALOT... but i like to keep this on the DL.

There's a german GM who trained up one of my guys in SP and keeps trying to sell him for way too much... since he's a GM, i dont get it.

Hmph, Fair Oaks doesn't seem to give me much hope, one of the guys he's selling is very similar to the guy I'm interested in (only his is worse for my interests) and is still going for about a million over what I think the price should be...

I'm in the midst of training a forward with formidable SP...brilliant +3 after tonight. He'll probably be sold in 1.5 seasons at about WC/Supernatural scoring.

I once started a midfielder with brilliant set pieces who won series top scorer once with 19 goals.

That midfielder is Billy Bob Connelly. He's still with the team but has declined in skills since. He still has the brilliant SPs though.
