Sab Presents The 2003 NFL Tournament
This will be a tournament with the 32 2003 NFL teams. I will be using two games to do this, a quick play game called FASTSCORE and the table top game SECOND SEASON.
The teams will be ranked by their final standings of the 2003 season. The first round (16 games) will be ran entirely using the FASTSCORE game. The second round (8 games) will have the first 3 quarters scored with FASTSCORE, and we'll "join the action" at the start of the 4th quarter suing SECOND SEASON. In the 3rd round (4 games), I'll use FASTSCORE to score the 1st half of the game, and we'll join the action with SECOND SEASON at the start of the 2nd half. For the Semifinal and Final rounds, I will be using the SECOND SEASON game for the whole game. Remember, these are the 2003 teams, not the 2004 teams (since there isn't 2004 teams for SECOND SEASON yet). Here are the rankings (PF used as tie-breaker, PA used as second tie-breaker): 1. New England (14-2) 2. Kansas City (13-3) 3. St. Louis (12-4) 4. Indianapolis (12-4) 5. Tennessee (12-4) 6. Philadelphia (12-4) 7. Carolina (11-5) 8. Green Bay (10-6) 9. Seattle (10-6) 10. Baltimore (10-6) 11. Denver (10-6) 12. Miami (10-6) 13. Dallas (10-6) 14. Minnesota (9-7) 15. Cincinnati (8-8) 16. New Orleans (8-8) 17. San Francisco (7-9) 18. Tampa Bay (7-9) 19. Chicago (7-9) 20. Pittsburgh (6-10) 21. New York Jets (6-10) 22. Buffalo (6-10) 23. Atlanta (5-11) 24. Washington (5-11) 25. Jacksonville (5-11) 26. Detroit (5-11) 27. Houston (5-11) 28. Cleveland (5-11) 29. New York Giants (5-11) 30. San Diego (4-12) 31. Oakland (4-12) 32. Arizona (4-12) So the matchups ar as follows (using Home Field Advantage). It will also go as a bracket tournament, rather than how the NFL Playoffs are ran (where they reorder the teams based on ranking). First Round Matchups (EDIT: reordered list to better see brackets) Arizona at New England San Francisco at New Orleans Jacksonville at Green Bay Washington at Seattle Houston at Philadelphia Buffalo at Denver NY Giants at Indianapolis Pittsburgh at Dallas San Diego at St. Louis Chicago at Minnesota Detroit at Carolina Atlanta at Baltimore Cleveland at Tennessee NY Jets at Miami Oakland at Kansas City Tampa Bay at Cincinnati Last edited by sabotai : 02-03-2005 at 06:09 PM. |

New Orleans at New England
After 3 quarters of play, New England leads the game 20-0 and has the ball on the New Orleans 31 yardline. It is 4th and 4. New England starts off the 4th quarter by missing a 48 yard FG, giving the Saints good field position. On 2nd and 2, McAllister broke one for 40 yards. The next play, Brooks found Horn in the endzone to make it 20-7. New England got the ball back and went on a time-consuming drive that ended with a 34 yard FG to make it 23-7. The play of the drive occured on a 3rd and 17 (due to penalty) in which Brady connected with Branch for 22 yards to keep the drive alive. It was 1 of 2 3rd and long conversions. New Orleans next drive went 3 and out and they had to punt since they were still deep in their own territory. New England again goes on a good time-killing drive which ended on a 33 yard FG to make it 26-7 and basically ended the game. But New Orleans still had fight in them. After 2 good runs by McAllister, the Saints went to an all passing offense when they had run out of time outs. 3 completed passes in 7 pass attempts had Brooks completing a pass for 16 yards to Stallworth for a touchdown. The onside kick failed and the Patriots just ran the clock out. Final Score: New Orleans 14, New England 26 |

Seattle at Green Bay
After the 3rd quarter, Green Bay has the ball at the Seattle 42 and it's 2nd and 6. Green Bay leads 24-10 Green Bay runs for 5 yard on two yard and punt it to the 4 yard line (out of bounds) on 4th and 1. Seattle goes on a long drive with most of the work coming from Alexander. He had 3 runs of 10+ yards and 2 runs of 9 yards. They didn't have a single 3rd down. Hasselbeck finishes the drive off with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Jackson to make it 24-17 Green Bay. On Green Bay's following drive, Farve connected with Driver for a 12 yard gain to get to midfield on 3rd down. On the next play, Green broke a run for 25 yards. They get 6 more after that and hit a 38 yard FG to make it 27-17. On Seattle's first play of their next drive, Hasselbeck throws an interception (Al Harris). Green Bay goes 3 and out but the INT return put them in FG range and they hit from 44 yards out to make it 30-17. Seattle fails on a 4th down conversion in their next drive and Green Bay runs the clock out. Final Score: Seattle 17, Green Bay 30 |
