Why Didn't the NFL teams wait?
For all the NFL teams that had coaching vacancies to wait for the Super Bowl to end, so they could interview the two assistant coaches. I mean I am glad for Cleveland and Notre Dame, just does not make sense, especially SF, not to wait.

Teams need their coaches to come in as soon as possible to start setting things up, putting their systems in order, evaluating player decisions. Plus, you also lose valuable time for hiring assistants at the Senior Bowl. Teams can't usually afford to start after everyone else. Last edited by mckerney : 02-07-2005 at 01:00 AM. |

How many coaching vacancies were there this year? 3? And one of them is hiring a New England assistant, and the other one took a job with Notre Dame over a month ago. Could you have picked a worse time to try and make this point? |
