UNC-Duke

2 minutes left, Duke by 3 as they go to the "hold the ball, take a poor shot, let the other team get points part of the game". They do this every game against even a remotely decent team.

I don't think Duke even competes when its at UNC, UNC is just too quick.

And is this like Yanks-Red Sox, where 99.9 percent of the country doesn't care? At least there 1 team was likeable, but it seems everyone hates these 2 schools, so does it captivate the rest of the country.

As a new ACC team, we respect UNC and hate Duke.

Reddick = airball

Best part is when Vitale claimed that JJ is the best shooter in America but his percentage doesn't matter because he always has someone guarding him.

Ya...um...

And what happened to Steve 16?

1 FG in the last 3 minutes roughly.

someone's upset coach K isn't coaching his favorite team... Seriously, look over 90% of the games that are within 5 points with 3 minutes left and see how many shots are made. I even called exactly what would happen.

And I can't say anything about Vitale, I got Billy Packer on tv over here.

Nah, I'm happy with Ben Howland coaching UCLA. Or did you mean the US National Soccer Team? The Dodgers? Or is it the Lakers? There is no doubt I'm a Laker fan, but Pro Basketball is far from being my favorite sport, ranking just ahead of Pro football.

... until the Lakers become contenders again that is... or LA gets awarded an NFL franchise...

When LA gets a pro team, no doubt I'll become a fan. I was too young to ever care about the Rams/Raiders.

Nah man, I'm cool with The Bruce coaching the US team. I don't like some of his decisions (is Hejduk still hanging around?), but we win. I'm actually watching todays game right now, resisted the urge to look at the soccer thread until I'm done with the game. 2-0 right now US!

oh man UNC ought to roll Duke in Chapel Hill. Duke played some very tough D and didn't let UNC run at all, McCants couldn't hit shit, but man, that was just disappointing. I really feel like UNC just cannot keep it's composure vs good teams on the road. UConn isn't Duke or Wake, but I fear this Saturday's game. Talent wise, UNC should win by 20, but I now fully expect a close loss.

McCants sure picked a hell of a day to have his worst shooting game, early on at least

Duke tried to do their best impression of the last five minutes of the UConn game in the Final Four last season, but Carolina wouldn't comply.

I also think Carolina rolls them in the Dean Dome.

You're rgith to fear UConn. Coming off a win in the Carrier Dome they are on a roll. As for UNC rolling over Duke at Chapel Hill, very rarely do Duke or UNC roll over one another. Duke has taken far worse teams into Chapel Hill and played the Heels really damn tough. It will be a great team, one UNC should win, but not a route.

Actually, that isn't really true. Of the last 20 games they've played, 11 have been double digit victories and 6 have been greater than 20 point victories. I'd discount 2 of the 20 point wins from the year Carolina when 8-20, but blow-outs definitely happen in this series, even when both teams are very good.

Reddick is on fire early to give Duke a huge early lead tonight. I'm not a Duke or UNC fan, but this game has drawn me in this year (even if ESPN is overhyping it.)

Can't watch. I'm going crazy following the sportsline gamecenter. What the fuck is up with this:

DUKE 1:53 Lee Melchionni made Tip-in
NC 1:48 Reyshawn Terry missed Jump Shot

5 seconds?!?!?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was awesome. great hustle, agressive defense, and have I mentioned before that I like this Hansbrough kid? I honestly didn't think it was possible that UNC could win this game. Who would have thought after May/McCants/Felton/Marvin Williams turned pro last year that UNC could finish 2nd in the ACC? Other than national title years, this is the most fun I've ever had following my Tar Heels, I love this so much.

Great win for the Heels. And to think for years folks thought Roy Williams was not a good coach. To do what he has done this year in the ACC is fabulous.

I really like Danny Green. He's only getting about 16 minutes a game, but project his numbers out to starter's minutes and they're 15 PTS 8 REB 2.2 BLK 1.5 STL.

WOW! What a game!!! Beat Duke twice this year. Yes I love Missouri, but NC is my second favorite team.

Hansbrough is a freaking stud, and to think he should be wearing black and gold, although no he shouldn't... he choice in teachers is much better than the alternative.

He's going to be very good. I think that Ginyard or Miller start because of their defense though(I *really* like Miller).

Well, I guess that just zeroes out the chances of Duke having any kind of a good season, after losing this big regular season game.

Oh... right, it's college basketball. We're still playing the last of the thirty or so pretend games. The real six-game schedule doesn't start for a couple weeks yet. My mistake. Carry on.

It's funnny, but this is exactly why college basketball has it right IMHO.

Did the game on Saturday truly mean anything? Probably not. It will certainly give NC a higher seed or two in the national tourney than they had heading into Saturday night. But overall? Nope. Heck, we still have the tourney to play.

Having said that, was it a fun game both to watch and for the players to play in? Was in "meaningful" to them? Watch the faces of the Duke crowd. Watch the young Carolina players running off the court in joy. Watch the Duke players in stunned shock.

This just in. . . you CAN have a meaningful game even if you have a national title. The beauty of it all is that this doesn't end Duke. They had a bad week. But they'll still head into the middle of March with a chance.

And for NC, win or lose in the tourney, they'll never forget this basketball game. Those kids will likely remember it more than anything they do in the tourney. (short of a Final Four berth)

What a great game to watch last night. Congrats to the Tar Heels. I almost feel ashamed saying this, because I can't stand Duke, but I truly felt sorry for Reddick last night. It's a sad way to end his Cameron Indoor career.

I thought the same thing after I smiled at each of his misses. (Reddick) I wonder how his confidence will be in the tourney.. because as you could see, with Reddick goes the Dukies... although that's not totally fair as Hansbrough was unreal.

I still can't believe elite teams like NC have a good sized lead and then run down the court and shoot terrible shots when clearly they should run the clock. I call it "Snyder" ball.

They may be great players, but they are kids. The basketball IQ still isn't quite there yet.

Talent isn't really into play there, it's experience. Even the best coaches can have a tough time with that. (and no, Snyder is certainly not a great coach)

It just frustrates me when NC had an 11 point lead and still rushed their shots.. let Duke right back into the game - QUICKLY.

I think that's the inexperience of UNC showing. A senior led team wouldn't be doing that. This team gets caught up in the rush they're on and does a couple of silly things. However, the fact that they held on to win and got a couple of strong defensive stops after letting Duke back in the game says a lot too.

Right now, I really want UNC to get another shot at Boston College. Halfway through the year I didn't think UNC was capable of beating Duke or BC. I'm real curious to see what might happen now.

Good point, but I still would think Williams would call a TO and say, ok boys we're up by 11 3 mins left.. lets work the clock.

Oh well, I'm not a coach and they won the game anyhow. I'll agree, NC is a scary team going into the tourney..
