Ok as some if not many people here know I have had my eyes on an RN at work for the past few months and have been flirting with her for about the same time. Now I finally mustered the courage to ask her out last night for Lunch tomorrow. She said yes and Niw I 've got a question: Is it proper since, this is Valentines day weekend to present her with Roses on the first date?(Ive always presented girls with flowers on the first date but its the first time i've had a date on V DAy week end. thanks.

Roses on the first date are always acceptable, regardless of what holiday is near. If you're worried about the holiday association stay away from red roses, and pick a more fun color like pink or purple. Have fun ![]() |

Hmmm...
Roses or a rose, or any flowers, on a lunch date first date may be a little over the top.

How about just giving the girl a single rose?

Either that, or stay away from roses all together. Back in my dating age, most girls seemed to prefer other flowers. Daisies, for example.

On my date tonight, I might go with a single rose, but also (or instead)... She's been talking about wanting to get "The Notebook" on DVD which came out this week. I'll probably surprise her with that.... and wait for the rose(s) 'til V-Day.

first date i'd say no for the roses, especially since it's a lunch date. a nice mixed bouquet would be better, imho.

One rose.
You'll save $$$ if it doesn't work out. (I would have recommended not mixing business with pleasure, but good luck!)

i dont think going out to lunch as a first date.
Just take her out for lunch and pay for it. then see how things go? if it goes well ask her out on a date to the movies, etc. and then buy her flowers. |

I don't like the single rose idea. it seems a little melodramatic. I like the idea of a cute little mixed boquet.
If you want to kick it up a notch, mix a pair of crotchless panties that are rolled up to look like a rose into the boquet. i think you can find these at truck stops. |

I've heard from a lot of playas-- and have agreed more and more as I've gotten older-- that one shouldn't make ostentatious outlays of cash when first going out with a woman.
I suppose it's alright if you're some kind of high-roller. But for the rest of us it gives the impression that we are the type of men that has to pay for a woman's company. Also, do you really want to go out with a woman for whom flowers are the dealmaker/dealbreaker? I wouldn't do the flowers bit if I were you. |

I think as long as you're a little bit cocky, and a little bit funny, you'll have no problem getting these bitches into bed before the night is out.

No flowers for a lunch. Instead use the mystery effect.
About 25 minutes into the lunch, have a friend call you, then say, "POTUS wants to talk to me now?" Then say you had a wonderful time, (if you did), you would like to see her again, (again, if you do) and then excuse yourself, and rush off in a hurry after leaving money to cover the lunch. This will lead to her wanting to know more about you, and you concocting an even more intricate series of lies to keep her interested. Eventually, just like Scott Peterson, you will be found and exposed, but ask him about it today, and with a thumbs up he will say, "What a ride!"

What, I can't root for the guy to get a little somethin' somethin'?
Actually, I wouldn't want that for him, not yet at least. If he really likes her the last thing he needs is a hooch who would put out on the first date...

Update : The date went off w/o a hitch. We spent lunch talking about her life and a little about myself. After lumch we walked around the venetian and talked soome more. We then proceeded to tal=ke the gondola ride and just stared at each other for a while. Then
like a true nerd that I am I had to tell her that I had Pharmacology class at 1800 and would have to take her home.

As per your questions: 1. There will be a second date on Thursday (can't today because she has work and I have class, May decide to show up at work with a card TODAY). 2. As a true gentleman we kissed and hugged after I walked her home (It ciolated my ''No kisssing on the first date rule but she initiated it). 3. I think that we really hit off , I felt real good about her and I think she felt the same way about me. Not to be a megalomaniac but I just acted like myself and that was the key.

Ok. Key facts missing. 1) Did you bring her flowers? A flower? How many? What kind? What color? I've invested too much time in this not to know these answers. 2) Did you actually say "I have a Pharmacology class at 1800 hours?" or did you say "Six o'clock." If you said the former and there is a second date, do not let this girl go...
