WSM 2005 Problem - HELP!!

My computer is starting to do some interesting things while I play WSM 2005. Several times over the last couple of days the game has crashed to the desk top, and now in the last couple of hours it's reset (rebooted) the computer.

I recently ran virus check (ok), disk clean-up and defrag. No other problems with the machine doing anything else...just WSM 2005.

Any thoughts?

I play on a laptop and it's simply shut down a couple of times, I think every time it's happened when I click on the player search function. I'm guessing the load on the CPU is high when it has to search and filter the database, so tend to save the game now before using the search screen. Since I've decided to do this, haven't had a problem, but at least if it did close down, I wuoldn't lose any game time.

Don;t know if this is similar to what is happening to you, or any help, but I could see people were elaving you hanging there!

There are a lot of fixes in the patch list that SI say causes crashes, so hopefully when it is released (rumoured at the end of Feb) this will solve the problems...

Thanks.

My crashes have happened in so many different places I can't find a pattern.

I set the auto save for "daily" and I haven't had a crash lately. It eats up a little time to save all the time, but I'm a pretty pokey player anyway.

This really stinks!!!

My daily saves were working ok. If the game shut down...just restart.

But now the game shut down in the middle of a save. The file is all F'ed up and it won't load.

I just won the Scottish 3rd in my first season. We were projected to the middle of the table, but we went on a 9 game winning streak and took the division. I had such a great young squad put together. Oh well. The wife and I are leaving on vacation Wednesday. I hope the 5.03 patch is out when we get back.

Can you post some specs of your PC please and also general information which might be helpful (ie. disk-space free on all partitions, virtual memory settings etc.).

If possible then I'll see if I can work out whats happening.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

Marc

Hi Marc,

I have an Athlon 1700+ (1.45GHz) with 512MB of ram; 114GB hard drive with 104GB open. Windows XP Service Pack 2. Virtual Memory: Total paging file size for all drives 767 MB (is that what you're talking about?)

I'm running England, N. Ireland, Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

I was 25-30 matches into the season before I started having trouble.

(and I will now be using "rolling saves").

I don't suppose there's some sort of "cool computer guy" way of staightening out my poor file is there?

Thanks for your time.

Dave.
