Travis Henry to the Cardinals?

http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8221832

The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly closing in on a deal for Buffalo Bills running back Travis Henry.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Journal the Bills would send the disgruntled Henry to Arizona in exchange for left tackle L.J. Shelton.

Henry, who topped 1,300 yards in 2002 and 2003, lost his starting job last season to up-and-coming Willis McGahee and made his feelings known that he had no desire to be a back up in 2005. He has one year left on his current contract.

Shelton was the Cardinals' 1999 first-round draft pick, but he fell out of favor with coach Dennis Green last season. He's under contract through 2008 at $3 million per season.

Considering the half-life on RB's, I think that trade would favor Buffalo assuming Shelton can continue to improve.

I had heard Arizona was shipping Shelton to the Bears for a draft pick.

I could be very wrong, but Henry could flourish in Arizona. Really.

LJ Shelton is a bust. This is a good deal for Arizona.

Henry was never bad. Before this year, he was a 1,000-year a year back. He never was "flashy" but he is a good back. He just got hurt behind an offensive line that was average at best, and Willis took the reigns and he never got back a look again.

Is Shelton a good linemen? The Bills need to improve the line badly, but would he be better then a pick?

Yes, but his fame in Arizona followed roughly the same path as Alice Cooper. They didn't become famous in Arizona - that happened in other places (Vietnam and Detroit - which, in the late 60's/early 70's, might have been the same place).

OK, besides McCain and Cooper, is there anyone else from Arizona?

This one's a good move for the Bills. Henry's a good back, no doubt there, but the Bills aren't going to get much use out of him unless McGahee is seriously injured. Keeping him around isn't worth it, given how disgruntled he is. And they need all the O-Line help they can get. It's like exchanging your appendix for a betting stub. It's not like you need it anyway..

Well since this trade would clear the way for my beloved Cardinals to draft a QB in the first round, I have to like it. Hate to see Shelton go if its true, not sure who they have to replace him really. Henry would be an improvement over who they have now surely, so that's also a plus. Also a plus that they didn't have to give up a draft pick to get him either.

Shelton didn't even start last season, so I think he won't be missed all that much.

I can see why the cards would include Tidwell in this trade. They really don't need him with their young wideouts. plus, he is a shrimp who bitches in the clubhouse.

Uh no but it's comforting that scene is right front and center in your thoughts.
