Thank god. Maybe all the whiners over on the SI boards will stop crying for two seconds about it. Or at least until after they download the patch and then find something else to complain about.

LOL! I don't think they can stop whining, they're addicted to it, or something like that. I have a hard time spending more than 10 minutes at a time on their board...

Having whiners on the SI boards just proves to me that people will whine about anything. The game is amazing and yet....

No kidding. I'm not a great soccer mind by any stretch of the imagination....but I honestly don't know what their issues are. I mean I probably don't know quite enough about the game to catch them...but according to a lot of those guys over there ...they're "show-stopping"...which is unreal to me. I've had this game for 2 months??...now I think and I can't stop playing it when I get home from work. If SI never came out with this patch I probably wouldn't even notice that they needed to.

I did notice some of the stuff that changed when the 5.0.2 patch came out. Enough that it made the game unplayable before the patch? NO WAY!!! I've been playing this one career since getting the game on November 15, that's more than 3 months, playing on a daily basis or just about. I rarely go two days in a row without playing, and that says a lot about this game to me. I'm sure the game will be even better when the 5.0.3 patch comes out, but it's not unplayable now, far from it!!! oh well, as ISiddiqui said, people will whine about anything...

Hehe... we're all addicted to the game. I have trouble not playing my Newcastle career... even though I know I should be reading for classes . It's really coincided with my getting into the EPL, so it assists in my understanding of the game (though I still know my team the best, it was the same before WSM )

I can't wait to get my laptop, and get this game. It's like Christmas as a kid.

But thank god for Frog an EF's dynasty reports (though they make me want it more), I can learn about it more and be ready to go when I get it.

wow, taken from this thread:
http://community.sigames.com/eve/ubb...1/m/5102002801

Once you get over the childistic tantrum, you can find this little gem (from Dave C, who's apparently a tester, or so I'd assume):

Quote:
Yes, the patch will retroactively fix regens in save games. I have seen it happen in testing.

Woah, this sounds amazingly nice, could mean I'll keep on going with my current career and not start one as soon as the patch is out...

Regens and a false "out of memory" error that causes your game to crash come to mind. I haven't been able to play the game in over a month because the latter issue makes my game crash after the first season.

Ahh...well that definitely does suck. I fortunately haven't had that problem after 15 collective seasons in my career.

The regens problem, while I'm beginning to see it a bit, isn't affecting me so much. I gues it's mostly cause I play so slowly (in my 5th season after more than 3 months real time play)...

The "out of memory" error definitely sucks. Have you seen any indication the list of corrections that would indicate that they've taken care of what is causing it? I hope for you they have.

I believe they have. From reading the support forum, it appears that nothing is actually wrong, the message is triggered by a false event which forces FM to exit to the desktop. Tbh, I was more than a little disapointed that this wasn't released seperately as a hot fix as it prevented a lot of people from playing the game and the solution has been known for a long time.

Either way, there's always CM now if it isn't fixed. Competition is good. I've been getting my soccer fix with WE 8 anyway.

WOW!!! I'm trying to wait for the patch before I finish this season because of the regen issue, but if this patch retroactively fixes regen issues that would be amazing!

IIRC, I think they 'gradually' fix regen issues. So current regens stay the way they are, but future ones are fixed. Perhaps regens that are young enough also benefit, but it's not like you install the patch and suddenly you get regen stars you never knew were talented

Grrrr. I still can't seem to DL 5.0.2 for WWSM. Guess I'll have to wait a week to get 5.0.3

I suggest you visit the thread I linked to, he is clearly saying that some players will see increase in their abilities, even though they're not fresh regens... I guess we'll only know when we'll get the patch, and I'll make sure to take screenies of all my youth squad players that got promoted at the beginning of this season to see if they indeed improved in skills or not...

I'll try finding another link that says the same thing...

Here's what I found, from this thread: http://community.sigames.com/eve/ubb...05&m=589201798

In answer to this question:
Quote:
With Regens being fixed, people like myself playing a career game, will we need tos tart again or will we be able to continue our existing game ?

Somebody quoted Paul Collyer himself from another thread than the one I linked to, but the quote can be found in that one thread...

Quote:
Its not just regens - applying the patch will have an effect on some non regen players' attributes as well.

Basically, thanks to some eagle eyes members of this forum, we identified a gradual drop in attributes over time and have rectified that for 5.0.3. All that will happen is that when you load your save into 5.0.3 you will see some of your players have up to 3 points added to certain attributes. Its going to affect all teams not just human ones so isnt going to make the game easier or harder just raise the overall standard of players back to what it is at the very start of the game.

Obviously the longer you are into your game the more noticeable this change is going to be.

Hope this helps!
Paul

I'd say it means what it means, that some players will indeed see improvements in their skills, not only new players that would be regens after the patch had been applied... This could be huge for me in deciding against starting a new career, at least for a few more seasons...

I completely agree FM. I wasn't about to abandon my Harrogate/Wigan dynasty, but this change is key to making it easy to go on for a good while

Hopefully, it works as we are interperting it.

good for you, I had found www.cmfaq.com who had the WSM patch earlier. Didn't realize that finding a mirror with the WSM patch was such a pain... Hopefully it works for you now...

It repairs itself in a progressive manner, so within a year or so everything is as it should be for all players .... most players won't change too much, but some will have a 'bounce' (but as ISiddiqui indicated its not like you're suddenly find that a truly naff player is now a world beater).

Just to clarify . . . so this patch, 5.0.3, will be the last of the FM'05 patch (obviously barring any catastrophic issue it causes) and will be available for both FM AND WSM at the same time. Is this correct, Marc or the other SI fellas?

Yes, I know. It's pretty much implied in the original linked thread but, if I'm spending what little money I have, I would like to know explicitly.

Spiff.

When I was searching, I found WSM cheaper than I could find FM. Sadly. Since I wanted FM.

I still may pay extra for FM since I prefer those weird terminologies.

Heh... I went with WSM... I could get it from gamestop.com and not have to pay any overseas shipping charges... that did it for me .

Of course now, I'm almost done with my first season at charge of Newcastle, but don't want to finish the year until the new patch comes out (so get the benefit of regen players changes the first offseason out ).
