Anyone see that new Burger King commercial?

Most bizarre commercial I've seen.

It has that lead singer from Hootie and the Blowfish singing about a chicken sandwich. It also had Brooke Burke on a swing, some Dallas Cowboys' cheerleaders, that subservient chicken, Vida Guerra(sp?). It was just weird.

We've discussed this. The singer is actually SkyDog.

I'm sure SOMEBODY can post a photo verifying this...

Burger King was running (it could still be up) that had a guy dressed up as a chicken inside of an apartment. People that visited the site could type in something and the chicken would do it.

It's wearing a garter belt. How in the world is that supposed to sell chicken sandwiches?

I saw that and couldn't figure it out.

Then I figured out Hootie IS Skydog. It all makes sense now.

Definitely a career killer for Hootie; although he probably realized his career was already over. It is a very wierd commerical, indeed.

This was one of those ads that caused my wife to turn to me after it aired and say "Did you just see that too, or am I having a stroke?"

Does this commercial seem to last 3 minutes to anyone else? I love it, personally, but I think Darius Rucker is sending out a not-so-subtle cry for help.

I think she always says something at the end.

You were probably just too shell shocked to notice the first few times.

Could he possibly have already gone through all the "Only Wanna Be With You" and "Hold My Hand" money?

I saw this damned commercial at least 5 times last night. His voice sounds awful, like he's got a cold or something. Now, I didn't listen to much Hootie to begin with, so maybe he's always sounded like this, but he sounds even whiter in the commercial than he did with Hootie.

What a bizarre, bizarre career move. That commercial has half a dozen things which separately could kill a career, and he does them all in the span of 30 seconds. The song, the wardrobe, the concept, the "it's a friggin BK commercial!" thing, his performance...what's that? 5 things? All they needed to do was add that Schneider guy from the B-52s (or hell, even the one from One Day At a Time), and the destruction would have been utter and complete.

I wonder what convinces commerical makers to butcher a classic song and replace all the lyrics with Burger King stuff... it's unreal.

Care to fill us in, then, LoneStarGirl? You sound like you're on quite personal terms with Mrs. Jameson there..

Yeah, but how many of BK's target demographic recognize the song (unless they've bought the "O'Brother Where Are Thou" soundtrack)

I'm not sure that moral outrage is justified here -- I think the basic structure of Big Rock Candy Mountain has been appropriated, both directly and indirectly, just about as widely as any piece of music in the language. This isn't exactly a first.

I'm proud to also say Skydog is Frylock.

Man, every time I see that commercial, it creeps me out. So much so, I don't want to eat a whopper.

While I'm on the subject of people here, I guess this a bad time for me to share the board-related dream I had last night, huh?

Can anyone confirm or deny that the first chick picking hamburgers from the tree (did I just type that?) is Jesse Spano (you know, that Berkley chick from Showgirls)? Looks just like her.

Somebody on a different board said that it's a girl named Carolyn.

Personally, I think it looks a whole hell of a lot like Christina Aguilara...
