Has the Poker boom gone way too far?
After some folks started aping the Raymer glasses after the 2004 WSOP.. are we going to see this trend followed as well.
((noted in Rec.gambling.poker, this is a 100K+ tournament I believe)) Shemale pornstar Brenda Starz just won the the US Poker Partys Tournament Friday 02/25/05. When asked by reporters what the key to her success was she replied "I have a definate advantage over men and women players because I can relate to both."

While sitting in the waiting room of an eye surgery Clinic with my parents. My father mentions that my mother is just about ready to take my money at the poker tables. She has apparently become addicted to all of the Hold'em TV on ESPN, Fox Sports, and the Travel Channel. She's not just watching the Hollywood homegame and Celebrity Poker shows, but the WPT, the World Series stuff, and all the Fox Tournaments. She loves Howard Lederer and Annie Duke. She regaled me with the tale of seeing Annie Duke spank Phil Helmuth, and how happy that made her.
So yes I can honestly say that when my 75 year old , never gambled unless it was a slot machine, mother has started to make in-roads on my hobby, the Poker Boom has gone too far. |
