Team allies?

We all know our home teams have their traditional rivals. As a Bills fan, I was brought up to hate the Dolphins and the Cowboys - that's just how it was. Every team has that. But what I'm wondering is if other folks were also taught their team's allies. I was taught from a young age that, while you cheer against the Dolphins, you cheer for the Steelers and the Browns. Pittsburgh is the football town with the drinking problem, and Buffalo's the drinking town with a football problem - they're our comrades-in-arms, so to speak. I'm curious if that's an odd quirk, or if it's common for other teams to have that?

Ugh, you make the NFL sound like NASCAR!

Bills GM: "Go ahead and win the game so you can get in the playoffs!"

Steelers GM: "Thanks pal, I'll owe you one when you need a win to get in the playoffs."

U-G-H...

I was taught to crush my enemies and enjoy the lamentations of their women.

As a Lions fan, I pull for the Bears to beat the Vikings and Packers whenever they play. But that is only because I hate them less, not because I like them.

As a Cardinals fan, every year I have to choose a team to root for in the playoffs.

As a Giants fan, I root for any team with a blue ox for a mascot.

I root for the Raiders, and root for any team playing against the Chiefs, Broncos, Chargers, or Seahawks (hey they were in our division a few years ago).

I wasn't taught my "allies" but I know them. As a carolina fan, I never cheer for Duke or state or virginia and most times wake, but I don't cheer for the other ACC schools when they are playing. I love watching FSU beat anybody(but us), but never ever let Duke win a game.

In the time between the Oilers leaving Houston and the Texans expansion I found myself rooting for every single team on the Cowboys schedule
