I didn't think anybody watched this show anymore. Except once, no one hooks up and ends up getting married. It's like a 4 month episode of blind date or the dating game, then, which equals "waste of time."

My wife switched over to this after American Idol. She threw several things at me as I MST3000'd throughout the entire thing.

What a joke that show is. Each time, they have the bachelor/ette pretend like making a choice is difficult, stringing along the other 1-4 people, then they make this "surprise" choice that really wasn't such a surprise. Because she chose no one, I'm convinced they played it out the way they did just to milk an extra hour show out of the whole thing.

During the final hour, they played up her big decision, and the guy even played along and pretended to be shocked when she finally said no... then they spent 30 minutes discussing why it didn't work. Uh...I'm thinking he kinda knew before the taping what her decision was, since they had a couple of post-show meetings, only one of which went good. What a load of horse crap.

I admit I only watched the show last night because I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up the wife had it on. So I start watching and she just keeps saying the same thing over and over about how she's been hurt before and she doesn't want to hurt either of them. At which point of course she decides to go ahead and hurts both of their feelings.

I really hope this show bombs and they stop making more of them because this was horrible and didn't find it the least bit dramatic, was blantantly obvious what was going to happen. She didn't even come up with an original line and used the old standby, "I think we're better off as friends."

I sort of followed along during the season since the wife was watching it. I wanted to watch the finale last night but we missed the first half hour because it was starting at 8 instead of the usual 9 o'clock start. Then I learned they were dragging it over two hours, with an "after the last rose" show... But the, darn it, the "after the last rose" wasn't after the last rose, it was the last rose, then I got tired of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and of seeing her crying, and crying, and crying... For crying out loud, it's not a life and death decision you're making here lady!!! oh, well, as I said, got tired and went to play some FM2005

that's why these things will probably be off the air soon (*prays). then again my wife loves these shows so if it entertains her then it can't be that bad.

but, yeah, they're worthless if one out of 10 couples (Ryan & Trista) actually get married. and no, i don't watch these bad shows.

I don't know, man. *A lot* of women watch this show. I've heard girls talk about it in class and my sister has this thing where here and a group of friends will watch it at a different person's place each week. They cook and eat dinner before watching the show too.

I didn't watch this one, but it's the first one I haven't watched...I just didn't like Jen, she annoyed me.

There is one other couple still together, from the last Bachelor...Byron and Mary. But yeah, a 20% success rate isn't really worth continuing the show over

I think the rule ought to be: if you watch these shows, then you give up any right to complain about them if they turn out to be stupid.

This and Bachelor could be the two stupidest shows ever pushed onto America. It's alarming the success of them.

i got roped into watching this after i got knocked out of poker and waited for my ride to get knocked out (or win) and was watching with the host's wife...

Did anyone notive that after the rejection the guy on the couch was getting further and further away from her until he was nearly falling off the couch?

Oh there are definitely some shows that are stupider. Like...

Who's My Daddy?
Extreme Makeover (just cause you feeeeel it.. it doesn't mean it's there)
Wifeswap
Paris Hilton and Lionel Ritchie's tramp daughter
Cheaters
The Gastineau twats

There's just a ton

I suppose it might be funny to mention this. Has anyone seen one of the newer Geico commericials? It goes on about a reality show in which the premise is that a couple has to live in a really small house (maybe short is a better word). They're all bending over and shit, hitting their heads on the ceililng. Well, reality TV has gotten so bad that I actually thought this was legit. I almost lost it - not out loud, but the kind of lost it that makes you want to get lost on a bunch of painkillers.

I don't count the fringe stuff and pick on Bachelor because so many watch.

I don't get Wifeswap either. Isn't it obvious that it's not "real". I mean come on. How could you give a sh*t who "wins" the bachelor?

I mean at least Survivor and some others feature a competition. This other stuff about "love" is preposterous.

The ratings are way down this year for this installment. I believe they got two more left installments left, then I think it will be done.

Whatever happen to Jesse Palmer?

Who is Byron and Mary?

I've only watched a few episodes of one of the Bachelorette series (the one before this one, I believe) and that was only because a former UTEP QB was one of the guys. He apparently made it to the finals before he got cut...

I always found Cheaters kinda funny. Two shows I can't stand is the Hilton/Richie duo (I just hate both), My Sweet Sixteen, and all these makeover shows. What is the Gastineau twats?

Cheaters is great. Of course, it's shot in the DFW area, so that might contribute to my enjoyment of it...

But that's why we watch them. It's like people complaining the traffic is so slow, but they rubberneck at the accident just like everyone else.

A show on E! which follows two golddiggers - the ex-wife and daughter of former football player Marc Gastineau. I guess they pretty much live off of a divorce settlement, though I've wondered how much that could be since Marc didn't exactly play during the *big* money days.

Oh ok...I know what your talking about. I saw the eposide the other night(or the first ten minutes). Yeah, how the hell does a women afford the jewelry in the six figure ranges, not work, fund her lifestyle, all off a divorce settlement from a football player, who I have no clue who it is (and before today's money-deals). I remember one of them saying, "They made a few wise investments".

ditto.

what does that say about the quality of our generation of shows that some people could actually believe that commercial was for an actual show (well, before the Geico part came up).

Mark Gastineu was the previous holder of the season record for sacks (before Brett Favre let Michael Strahan break it). that in an of itself shouldn't mean that Gastineu had not only a huge pile of money in the pre-FA era of football, but enough to fund his wife and daughter to those excesses. i don't care enough about those ladies or their show to hear exactly how they can afford that lifestyle.

I saw part of this show (wife was watching) and thought the same thing... how the hell did Gastineu have that kind of money? There's no way he earned that kind of bread while he was playing.

The best I can figure is that he might have been smart enough to put some away, and cashed in on the hot stock market of the 90's.

Yeah...But even the later, it would still be hard-pressed to fund the lifestyle they live, and even pay the divorce settlement he would have to pay. I bet he spent millions alone on jewelry and clothes on his wife, or she does now, alone.
