A very addictive website for music fans

http://bandtoband.com/

It's like a six-degrees-of-seperation thing where you click on two groups and the site explains the connection in the required # of steps.

A few work friends and I killed an hour today trying to find the lengthiest connection between bands. One of us got to 27 (I won't reveal which groups were involved). My personal best is 24, and I can't come up with anything that tops it.

Nice find, the most I got was 20....it is pretty hard.

I am happy that my favorite band, Avail, is included on this site.

I just got a 23 link chain.

None of the groups I listen to much, but still fun to find a long chain.

But not too many pop groups though. If they can link Moss Icon to the Spice Girls... then I would truly be impressed.

It's obviously a pretty new site, as some of the bands they've just added are pretty big, and the scope of this project is HUGE. I wouldn't write it off just because some bands aren't currently there.

I have been noticing that 'Super Groups' tend to make the strings longer. Seems like every string I have had consisted of either Asia, Yes, or King Crimson...haha.

But the supergroups make it easier to tie to other groups that there might not be a connection to. For instance, nearly every string I tried with King's X tied Ty Tabor to Dream Theater or The Dregs through Myung/Morgenstein (from Jelly Jam or Platypus), and then on to another band through that association. So I think it cuts both ways.

This is fun...I couldn't come up with anything longer than 20 in the 10 minutes I went at it. Who knew Modest Mouse and the Can were tied together so closely?

They cheat though.

I saw them use a soundtrack for a movie and a compilation to connect.

No Rush either.

Still a fun site. And I have to say that Geoffrey Downes of Asia is the biggest musical whore in rock history.

The most I have got so far is the first idea I came up with, Joy Division with The Band (two of my favourite bands ever) garnering 15 links.

Man, you guys are a bunch of fucking crybabies. Next time I'll hold off on linking to a music site until every band and album in the history the world is included.

Well if they were real fans of the band they are whining about; not being on the list. They would figure out how their favorite band could link to the bands already listed. I dont really like the dropkick murphy's and it took me 2 minutes to find a way i could link them on there.

p.s. pink floyd fans are on there own

Anthony was in ten yard fight and ten yard fight is on the list so there is your connection

or if you just want bend members cause linking a band because of a compilation or split 7" is retarded.

there current drummer matt is in Fit for Abuse
|
Fit For Abuse has joe who was in a band called close call
|
close call had I guy who was in American Nightmare who are on the list cant think of his name right now

also im not sure if any of the ducky boys were in Dropkicks(dont really follow them sorry}
I just wasted 10 minutes of my life
