FM: 5.0.3 Patch Is Out!

Available now using BitTorrent, direct download later today I think. World Wide Soccer Manager tomorrow.

Torrents:

Without Data

Size : 37mb. The increase from the announced size is due to the language packs being included. We apologise for issuing an incorrect filesize

http://62.73.186.71/torrent/btdownlo...ta.exe.torrent

With Data

Size : 84mb

http://62.73.186.71/torrent/btdownlo...ta.exe.torrent

sweet!!!

I have a question about the patch though, hoping Marc Vaughan will read in here... If I plan on keeping on playing my current career (i.e. not restart), is there an advantage in downloading the data update right now, or should I only download the patch without the data update?

I will probably download the whole thing, but I'm wondering if it'll do anything to my game if I download the patch with or without the data update. Reason why I plan to download the whole is that I will eventually start another game, I just want to keep on playing with my current career for a little while...

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that the data update won't effect your current games. That data is already locked into the save game file.

The data update will only be 'active' in new games so if you're continuing a game it will make no difference to things ...

PS> Sorry for the delay in replying I'm actually off work today (believe it or not )

Thanks for the answer, but this delay was INEXCUSABLE!!! Seriously, thanks. As I said, I'll probably download the full update, install the whole thing and have it ready for whenever I'll start a new career...

Thanks again, now go enjoy a beer, before the whiners start reminding you that you have made a game that is unplayable and not worthy of their money

I'm actually afraid to peek at the SI boards right now to discover the first negative 5.03 patch thread.

The .exe is exactly the same.

For those that don't want to mess with BitTorrent (hand raised), The Dugout has both FM 5.0.3 patches posted over there on their website (w/ data and w/out). Download speed was decent too.

My guess is that it will be at least a few days before anyone can assess how MLS is now, unless they were a beta tester for the patch. I know I'll be at least a few days away from trying MLS (although I do look forward to giving it a spin with this patch.)

I was thinking of doing a holiday test before I leave for class tonight and running it for a few years on just an MLS league to see how the regens turn out and if the league doesn't get screwed up.

My bad. I really look forward to hearing thoughts about the MLS from you guys, as I really want to have a serious MLS dynasty at some point.

I also had the language problem. For those experiencing it, click on the only lit up link on the top of the opening page. Then, click on the 4th option that is lit up (counting from the top.) Then, click on the top option that is lit up and choose the language of your choice.

Amazing. This always happens with SIGames patches. Stop using BITTORRENT!! (and make regular download options easier to find).

If someone can just post a straight download straight into this thread, I would really, really appreciate it. I go to the Dugout, and I only find Bit Torrent. I go to SIGames mirror sites that are supposedly for straight downloads, and I get one that is actually a Bit Torrent link, a second (in German too, I think) that I can't get my popup blocker to allow (and, no, I can't seem to get ym blocker to ignore it), and a third that leads to a dead link.

Crap, it's almost like they want to hide a regular link.

Look under downloads on the dugout website. It is there, just not on the main page for some reason. If it horks the language setting you will need to go into options and set the language back to your preference.

Thank you, vyshka. I actually checked that (The Dugout's download section), but had problems with my blocker there, too. I played around with things a bit and finally got it to download the file.

Thanks for the offer, GE.

A little bit off topic. I will be buying FM 2005, now that this patch is out. However, what's the real difference between FM and WWSM? I am a football purist, and I don't want to see any crazy american things in there (whether its expressions such as "field" instead of pitch, or "coach" instead of manager), or even MSL themed logos etc. (Sorry,MLS fans). Should I just buy it here of get the FM (import) from gogamer?

I think the only difference (Marc can correct me on this) is the terms used in text. It uses terms more familiar to Americans. I ordered FM2005 from the UK
when it came out bc I didn't want to wait for WWSM. So I can't say for sure,
but I imagine a search of the sigames forums will find threads dealing with it.

Yeah, I think the only changes are minor text things. I don't notice anything wierd with WWSM, in terms of how things are refered.

I'm waiting patiently for the WSM patch. I'll probably restart my career since I had activated too many leagues, and it was just taking too long to process anything for my liking. I still managed to get through nearly two seasons, though.

What's with the aversion to BitTorrent? Since the WSM patch isn't out yet, I haven't tried BitTorrent for this particular file, but are there too few seeds or something? I would think that BT would be absolutely perfect for a file with such demand. Isn't that the point of BT in the first place?

The aversion to Bit Torrent is more a personal thing with me, Pumpy (although I wouldn't be surprised if there are others).

It just seems very complicated. I always have a lot of problems when I try to download a file using Bit Torrent. It's not really an intuitive program.

Meanwhile, a straight download is a very simple process to handle, and I have cable, so the wait isn't that long for me.

I guess the answer to your question is that Bit Torrent is great for people on dial up and who don't mind complicated things (or more complicated), but for people on broadband who only want a simple download, it's a big headache.

this is a repost from my dynasty report concerning player changes due to the patch...

==================================
Okay, I've run some quick test over lunch and John Davies is indeed turning into quite a specimen

He is a 17yo D R that joined the team during the last offseason, and as I said, I was never all that impressed about his overall skills, until last night that is... Quickly scanning is skills, I can see that he gained 11 skill points by simply applying the patch. Methodology: I took a picture of my whole team just before saving the night before yesterday. I applied the patch before loading the game yesterday, then turned on FM2005 and loaded my game. First thing I did is take another picture of the whole team. By taking a picture, I mean saving to text the 7 important screens (general, mental, physical, technical, attacking, defensive, goalkeeping) and parsing them through excel (who would have thought, huh? ). With that, I can compare the picture of the whole team, player by player, from one picture to another.

So I compare the picture from pre-patch to post-patch (on January 10), remember that not even one day has passed after reloading the game post-patch. In his case, John Davies strikes me as a nice gainer at first, gaining 11 skill points overall, only because of the patch. They were all 1 point gain, since he's a full back, most useful gains came on crossing, marking, passing, tackling, anticipation, and positioning. All nice gains, especially since they can not be attributed to training.

Then I took another picture of the team on January 22, so 12 days after applying the patch. Now, WOW!!! Davies has now gained 38 skill points!!! He got boosts of 3 in crossing, first touch, marking, tackling, technique, anticipation, concentration, and decisions. He also got boosts of 2 in heading (up to 16 now), passing, composure, creativity, and positioning... He definitely becomes a payer to keep in good check and could eventually have some playing time with the first squad...

Me love the patch

I'll try to find a way to report my findings, possibly in here. Just gotta find a way to post the 47 columns in the table in a way that it doesn't give everyone a headache

The WWSM patches are 22 and 67 MBs, why the difference in size when compared to the FM patches?

when they release a "final" patch for a game, haven't they usually removed the copy protection (the must have CD in drive crap?) that could be it.

Reason why the FM patches are si big is because they included all the language packs in them. Maybe they don't need to include all the language packs in the WWSM patch, since it's supposedly destined to the North American market. Just a guess though, I have no inside information...

Out of the box the game works fine. But when I install the patch, it tells me I need to insert the correct CD?

Did you install the correct patch for your game (ie. you didn't install the FM patch onto an American version of the game did you?).
