Looks very odd, and yes everyone seems to be in it.

Kind of reminds me of that Bruce Willis flop from awhile ago. The one with Milla Jovovich. not plot line wise, just the fact that it seems to be all Special Effects and looks like it will "tank" at the box office.

It's interesting that they are trying to do a direct interpretation of the comic onto the silver screen. I hope it works out.

Hmm, just watched that trailer.

Special Guest Director? Weird

Guess Quentin Tarantino's name had to get on there somehow.

Well he directed one of the segments and there was a big row between Rodriguez and SAG or some filmmaking group that has a rule against two directors being given credit for the same movie or something... It was retarded, but I guess they worked something out.

The movie looks cool. I have been looking forward to this for sometime.

The comics (graphic novels or whatever) are pretty amazing and it is supposed to be almost a shot-for-shot translation. I am all in favor for filmmakers to be a little experimental. Not sure what type of appeal it will have beyond the hardcore geek fan base. Hopefully it will do well, thought I am seeing "Sky Captain" type numbers in its future...

Still, a solid cast. The look is amazing. A great visual translation from the page to the screen. I can't wait.

Actually, from what I read, the big row was over Rodriguez appointing Frank Miller as co-director. The Directors Guild told him he couldn't do that, and he quit.

On IMDB both Frank Miller and Rodriguez are listed as directors... I don't know why shit like that has to be such a huge deal with the SAG and company.

This really is an incredibly loaded cast.

Ah. That could be it. I know there was something going on between Rodriguez and the Directors Guild. I am pleased with the cast and Frank Miller's involvement.

I must admit, though. I have never been all that impressed with Rodriguez as a director. A bunch of seemingly random gun fights and Ceech Marin in a bunch of different roles does not a motion picture make.

I've never read the comics, but this sounds a bit creepy at best and downright gross or disgusting at worst.

I think I'll have to wait for the reviews on this (unless someone tells me Jessica does a nude scene...)

Robert Rodriguez ("Spy Kids," "Once Upon a Time in Mexico") and comic book icon Frank Miller co-direct "Sin City," based on the series of graphic novels created, written, and illustrated by Miller. "Sin City" is infested with criminals, crooked cops and sexy dames, some searching for vengeance, some for redemption and others, both. The film incorporates storylines from three of Miller's graphic novels including 'Sin City,' which launched the long-running, critically acclaimed series, as well as 'That Yellow Bastard' and 'The Big Fat Kill.'

Rodriguez, along with Miller, translated these legendary stories from page to screen by remaining absolutely faithful to the look, feel and dialogue of the books.

"Sin City" stars Bruce Willis as Hartigan, a cop with a bum ticker and a vow to protect stripper Nancy (Jessica Alba); Mickey Rourke as Marv, the outcast misanthrope on a mission to avenge the death of his one true love, Goldie (Jaime King), and Clive Owen as Dwight, the clandestine love of Shelley (Brittany Murphy), who spends his nights defending Gail (Rosario Dawson) and her Old Towne girls (Devon Aoki and Alexis Bledel) from Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro), a dirty cop with a penchant for violence.

No idea what the running time is, but there are basically three separate stories/plots, all set in "Sin City" in which there are some over-lapping characters and locations.

Basically you have the Mickey Rourke/Frodo story line (original "Sin City" book), the Bruce Willis story line ("That Yellow Bastard") and the Clive Owen/Benecio Del Toro story line ("The Big Fat Kill").

I am going to a talk Frank Miller and some other "graphic novelists" are giving at the Smithsonian this weekend. Should be interesting to hear what he has to say...

All the Sin City books are pretty much "self-contained". In other words, there isn't an "order" of books that you need to read; kind of like the Astro City books. The only real good Sin City book (IMHO), would be "That Yellow Bastard".

Really? I thought the original "Sin City" with Marv was excellent. I love me some Marv...

Don't get me wrong, I like Frank Miller's stuff -- especially '300' (can't wait for this movie, a la Gates of Fire, I think). For some reason, when I think of the "Sin City" books, "That Yellow Bastard" sticks out more to me than any of the others.

Kind of like Gaiman's one 'Sandman' book that always "stuck out" to me...erg. Can't recall the title...

I have to read '300' again. For some reason it just didn't do it for me. "Gates of Fire", however, was an awesome book. It'd make one hell of a movie.

Don't get me wrong, I like Frank Miller's stuff -- especially '300' (can't wait for this movie, a la Gates of Fire, I think). For some reason, when I think of the "Sin City" books, "That Yellow Bastard" sticks out more to me than any of the others.

Had no idea that Miller did a take on Thermopylae. I HAVE to hunt that down now, loved Gates of Fire.

Oh, and Sin City is shaping up to be the first movie I bother to see on opening night in about 3 years. I'm a sucker for noir though, and it doesn't get much more hard-boiled than this.

Going to read through all of the comics again before Friday.

This is one I keep hearing where the reviewers seem to think those that read the comics will enjoy it, and those who haven't might not. Seems a bit topsy turvy from usual, but at least they're being pretty true to it.

I am curious to see how using the three storylines in one movie will work out, going to be tough to pull off well.

I going to see it opening night also but that's because Saturday = Final Four and Sunday = Opening day.

Just came back from seeing it and I liked it. I have not read all the graphic novels, just The Hard Goodbye and That Yellow Bastard. It was cool seeing some of the shots in the film being almost identical to the ones in the books.

Not sure how those unfamiliar with the novels are going to take it. It definately looked like a film for those wanting to see these characters in a movie.

I just came back from seeing it too. Never read any of the graphic novels.

I loved the movie. I think Marv is one of my favourite characters ever in a movie. It's always good when there's so much violence... yet you can laugh at a lot of parts.

Highly recommended.
