IWS #102 Results
32 Entries this time. Not record setting, but a healthy amount. A pretty good mix of scores, too. Most of the questions had just about a third of the participants picking the top answer, which I think is a pretty good ratio.
Anyway, here we go: 1.) Which non-quarterback has the best chance of winning the 2005 NFL MVP award? 11--LaDanian Tomlinson 9--Terrell Owens 4--Randy Moss 3--Priest Holmes 2--Ray Lewis 2--Edgerrin James 1--Corey Dillon This one came out about the way I would have expected. Personally, I think that the "correct" answer is Tomlinson, but T.O. was the only non-QB to get serious consideration last year, which had to be on people's minds. 2.) Who is the third greatest quarterback of all time? 12--Dan Marino 11--John Elway 3--John Unitas 3--Joe Montana 1--Steve Young 1--Tom Brady 1--Fran Tarkenton I figured that the conventional wisdom indicates that Unitas/Montana are 1-2 in the all-time pecking order. #3 seems to be where there is wiggle room for Stupid to have an opinion. Dan edges out John in what turned into a battle of 80's AFC gunslingers. 3.) We know that the Cowboys are historically great (sorry Kodos) and the Saints are historically horrible. What is the most historically average team in the NFL? 6--Seahawks 6--Jets 4--Chiefs 3--Vikings 3--Browns 2--Giants 2--Eagles 1--Steelers 1--Chargers 1--Falcons 1--Saints 1--Lions 1--Dolphins Congrats, I guess, to the Jets and Seahawks. You are very, very average. Better than being bad. Not as good as being good. 4.) Name a United States Supreme Court Justice. 11--Chief Justice Rehenquist 10--Justice Thomas 5--Justice O'Connor 5--Justice Scalia 1--Former Chief Justice Earl Warren I liked this question because I thought that there was no obvious answer. Justice O'Connor was the first woman on the court. There was a very public fight over Justice Thomas' confirmation. Justice Scalia is the most controversial member of the court. And Chief Justice Rehenquist is the chief and he has had some recently discussed health problems. And I want to give a shout out to the old school pick of Earl Warren. 5.) How many times will Jennifer Lopez be married in her life? 11--Five 7--Four 5--Three 4--Six 1--Ten 1--Two 1--Seven 1--Twelve 1--No Answer I threw this out with no idea what the answer would be. Stupid seemed to have a pretty solid idea about this one, though. I didn't think that we would get over 10 for any answer. 6.) Name a character on the Simpsons who is not related to the Simpson family. 10--Mr. Burns 8--Moe 7--Ned Flanders 2--Apu 2--Krusty 1--Kodos 1--Ralph Wiggum 1--Chief Wiggum I thought that this would be a two horse race between Moe and Krusty. I didn't really see Burns or Flanders coming. The Results: The Field:
Third Place:
Second Place:

The two who answered Chargers were counted separately. Must be why I finished last. BTW, is 1080 a record low?

Thanks for the catch. There was actually only one Chargers. The other one was Dolphins, which was another answer with only one guess. That does not affect the results at all. |

You can believe I wasn't hoping for a change in winners with that error. Nice IWS all the same. Really up for grabs.

Definitely one of the more up for grabs IWS I've participated in. I'll have something out by tomorrow.

I think even if Kodos had hosted this IWS, many still wouldn't answer that. Not many people know their names.

Out of curiosity, how are the scores calculated?

I made the top ten while managing to avoid all the most popular answers. What do I win?

I chose Ned Flanders because my next door neighbor looks like Ned Flanders. Interestingly enough, his wife looks like Miss Piggy.

you get points for the number of people you matched with, for example, if you said John Elway for question #2, you would get 11 points. You multiply your points for each question together.
