Attribute Loss

Do your players see a reduction in attributes when you play them out of position?

Ex. SILB at SLB, WLB, or either one of the DE positions?

It just seems like a LB at DE doesn't produce the same results of a DE with similar attributes.

Yes, they suffer a loss in effectiveness - how much is an unknown factor, but the amount of ratings the player would retain if he was converted permanently is a fair guideline.

Ok, thanks.

Another quickie if I may.

In my current game I've come across 3 very nice safeties. Would the best thing to do in a 3-4 Defense be to run a lot of Nickel with the 3rd safety in the Nickel slot instead of putting him in the WLB spot and Nickel slot? Or do you get penalized for putting the Safety in the nickel slot as well? Sorry if that sounds confusing.

Thanks in advance,

I hold the same view as 3ric. Whether a safety playing "nickel cornerback" is considered out of position is a good question. I assume the answer is yes. I would play the safety as a nickel back before I'd play him as a linebacker, no question. Safeties generally don't have the size to play linebacker in FOF, which is why you rarely if ever see linebacker as an option for a permanent move.

Chubby disagrees. Safeties at linebacker and linebackers at defensive end are the bees knees to him!

A safety at nickleback probably does get an attribute hit. But it more often than not would be less of a hit than at linebacker. Best would be to put a CB at nickleback, but if your safety is considerably better, then it would make sense.
