A little Firefox help please

I just realized there was a new update so I got 1.0.2.

Here is how my screen looks now:

How do I get rid of that annoying big grey bar at the bottom of the screen? I can't change the size of it with the cursor like the taskbar...so frsutrating.

edit: i dont think the image is working either. Anyway, there is a grey bar between the browser window and the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. it is about 1 inch thick and is a part of the browser.

Yikes. I wish I could help. I upgraded to 1.02 as well, and that's not happening to me. I'd suggest uninstalling completely and reinstalling.

I'd try unchecking a couple of the Toolbars (View/Toolbars) and see if that does anything. I'd then do as Cuckoo suggested and re-install.

A simple check: press the F11 key (it toggles between a full screen and one with the various toolbars you have set.)

Press again to get back to your own screen.

Is anyone else getting many more popups through Firefox recently?

When I woke up this morning (I leave it on at night), I had 5 or 6 popups, including a couple that were opened using Internet Explorer, which I haven't used since switching over to Firefox months ago.

I actually talked to my sister, and she's having the same exact problem.

I am no expert at all, but the same thing happened to me with IE pop ups while i was useing Netscape a few months ago and it was pretty wicked spyware.

Is there some kind of death trap with loading pdfs in Firefox? Everytime I accidentally click on one while browsing I have to manually kill the browser.

FYI, The problem was in either an entension or theme. I had to wipe them all out, uninstall, reinstall, then reinstall all my extensions. A real pain, but it is working now.

On a related note, I had a great extension that would allow me to highlight text that read hxxp://www.etc... and it would automatically convert that to http. Very helpful at FOFC with all the hxxp links. Anybody have the name of this or a link for where to get it again??

Logan-Yes, I've had some popups breaking through Firefox and it's annoyed me to no end, now if only those people who design the methods to outsmart the popup blockers would put their energies to something actually useful (cure for cancer anyone, to steal a Fark-ism).

Arles-I found that Adobe 6.0 had a LOT of problems, especially when it came to killing browsers. It was wicked slow and disgusting. Adobe 7.0 has solved some of these problems, though it's still slower than I'd like.

As for the original problem, sorry, don't know.

I got it when I first used Firefox way back in the day (you were the person who mentioned it, actually) It's called "Plain Text Links", but unfortuntely there doesn't seem to be an updated version having been created in quite some time...

They're not popups, they're pop-unders. The advertising folks have finally burrowed through Firefox's protections and figured out how to get pop-unders working.

Don't think thats what it is, at least in my case. A site I go to everyday uses pop-unders, which have pretty much always come thru FireFox. What I've been experiencing lately isn't the same thing.

But I agree with your main point...someone surely by now found a way around how Firefox blocks ads.

Anybody know of a reason why I can never get Firefox to open my Hotmail account? I can get to the password screen and enter my password, then it just goes to a blank screen.
